ok thanks for the reply..am i going to have to no FORE SURE if im going to use a 5 speed or auto.. this is part of the problem..i need to order a cam this week.. but am not sure on what trans i am going to use..the plan was to put a t-5 in it.. but not finding much info on the swap.. and a few things i have figured out yet.. i.e hooking up a clutch cable finding a crossmember...and so forth..

ok thanks again.. would this cam require i suse aftermarket springs..? or make any mods to pistons?? ..anyone else have any imput or use one of these summit cams?? thanks for the help once again..
p.s anyone no anything about a 74 351 windsor?or what it might have come out of or how much h.p it was stock?

That motor was a dog. Lucky if it came with 250hp new. Everything after 71, went into the crapper. 71 cleveland 375hp easy, 72 with the smog crap, lucky if it had 275

wow had no idea ..ahh well came with the truck free..and im not building a race truck out of it just want it to sound good and look pretty..:nice: im sure it will scoot pretty goood anyways its a 3000 pound truck that will have a 351 5 speed in it and its got some talllll gears..

Yeah, I don't know how well it will scoot. The biggest problem that engine had was a terrible compression ratio. If you don't want to replace the pistons there are a couple of options. You can get the block decked to the max and then pick up a pair of GTP-40 heads and have them shaved to the max. At that point you'll probably need to get the intake cut a little. You might get the compression up to 9:1 that way.
