Im sure Ill be updating this post with a flurry of questions regarding my swap at some point, but for now just one question. Is the wiring harness and computer the same between a Mark 7 and Mustang of the same year (1990)? If so, what do I need? Im thinking basically locate the computer and get the harness that comes from it. Theres a 1990 Mk7 someone traded in the cash for clunkers program in my local self serve junk yard, and it looks to be in pretty good shape and complete. I forgot to see if it was MAF or SD. I already have a gt40 intake, 65mm TB, and 24lb injectors. Should I grab the throttle and trans linkage while Im there too, since Ill be using an AOD eventually?

When I did mine I took everything. Linkage, every wire that contacted the engine or computer. One other thing was the gas pedal. I traded pedals to make it easier to adapt the linkage. I figured it was better to have it all now, then to need it later. Also, I took the drive line so I could cut two to make one with the correct input shaft. Thats all I can think of now.

Wiring is not the same. I believe all Mark 7s were SD.

Having done the swap, I'm not a big fan if your only goal is power - there are much easier ways.

But, if you must, then grab all the wiring you can, every sensor, every connector, everything. Grab the gas pedal and the fuel cutoff switch too. Grab all the front dress, pulleys, AC, PS, everything.

Much better to have it and not need it then the other way around.

Good luck....

Correct , the wiring would be different from the mustang /mark . Also the early computers (minus cobra) are tuned for 19lb (orange/yellowish) injectors.

The gas pedal is pretty simple, it just depends on what setup you want to go with. I myself used the Lokar (spelling?) cable pull pedal. It was easy and took about an hour to install.
