Is a CSR or electric waterpump a good idea for a street car?

i run a meziere 300 series. i'm using the one without the idler pulley built in. it looks like the factory pump and has all the mounts done proper to hook up all the factory brackets and heater hoses. it is not my daily driver due to cost of driving it cause of gas. but if i got decent mileage, i would drive it more. i got it like 5 years ago for around $300. dunno what the price is now, or what improvements have been done.

Had a CSR on my Camaro (sold) and it made a noticable difference, and I know a few that use them with no problems.

The issue is that if they stop working, you really can't tell, and you might not notice it until it's too late and the engine is red hot even though the gauge is reading normal because the coolant is not flowing.

I wouldn't run one on a DD, but a weekend type car I would. In fact, i'm considering one on mine. I only drive maybe ~1000 miles/year, and for an hour at a time at most, so it would work for my situation.

Would I want to sit in rush hour traffic every day with one? Prob not

Only if your going to go the extra and get a controller. It's a pain on the street without a controller because you need to kinda tick tock it on and off manually. If I just left it on, the car would never get up above 160 degrees. It works too well. I had a thermostatic switch on mine but it never worked properly because the water gets hot in the water jackets but not circulating to the switch to kick on the pump. With a DCC controller it would circulate slow when it's not calling for cooling but enough to keep coolant moving so you don't get hot spots. At the track it is worth it's weight in gold.

did no one read my previous post? get the meziere 300 series like i did and be done with it. 55gpm is enough. i have never had a problem with mine, or running to cold that i had to run a on off switch, controller, or whatever. i do have a DCC controller, but it is hooked up to my fan only. just use a relay to turn it on with key power and forget about it. i run a thermostat and everything works great. i had to grind the A/C bracket to clear the pump but it bolts up and allows me to use A/C and power steering like stock.
