My GT500 is rusting and Ford doesn't care

I also got mine fixed and the warranty had expired on my 06. I guess they didnt check the books or something. I bought a steeda hood now and am getting it painted, screw the original ford hood. The problem i am facing is that my painter says that he has to blend in the fenders with paint. Have anyone here had this done? Also why cant he just paint the hood without messing with the rest of the car?

You answered your own question.. The paint coloring has to be blended to the existing paint.. Age, how it was painted, exposure to light, pollutants, different date of paint manufacture, and mixing.. it all comes in to play with how the final color comes out. You can have just the hood painted, but it is sure to be a different shade, (or metallic mix, if a metallic color)
I’ve now had new hood, both fenders, 1 front bumper cover, 2 rear bumper covers, left door replaced.. In the process of these separate incidents, the car has had paint work blended several times, now covering every area of the car. At 10 feet, you cannot tell… at 1 foot, yes you can tell. But I have Windville blue covering my mustang and it’s not an easy color to mix, paint or blend.

have a look at other jobs your painter has done, something with a color like yours... that will help you decide. Basic colors, white, black, orange, red and the like are much easier to paint and color match

My guess is that contaminates got under the finish at the factory which resulted in the finish corroding, not the actual metal itself. If you have a good shop fix it there will be no indications it has ever been fixed. What color is your car?

The warrany takes in effect when it purshased. I bought a 2006 GTO in 06/07. The warranty did'nt start untill we got it! Let me tell yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The car has been nothing butt warranty! Go figure! The 2008 gt My only complaint is dam!!!???? Air up the tires:) It's no different with any other manufactor. You will have problems.

under the paint on aluminum body parts. This is
due to iron contamination of the aluminum panel.

My 07 GT did the same thing just past the 2 year mark. I took it to my dealer (who sold me the car new) and they replaced the hood. The way it went down was I took it to their body shop (behind the service dept) and showed it to the body shop ticket writer. As we were looking at the hood the body shop manager came up, and asked what we were looking at. We showed him the two corrosion spots. He turned to the ticket writer and said, "order him a new hood." The three of us spent the next 20 minutes with the Ford paint chip book trying to figure which of the 4 different redfire clearcoat chips matched exactly. In the end, we nailed it the first try. The hood came in, and was painted off the car so that when I brought the car in it was a simple matter of taking off the old hood and bolting on the new one. I was very satisfied. I live at the beach in NC. This car has also had all four factory wheels replaced due to corrosion. None of my other cars seem to be affected by the beach the way this Mustang has. That includes my 95 Mustang GT and my 96 Cobra.

A lot of Mustangs over here in the UK have this problem which is due to iron contamination and a reaction between that and the aluminium on the hood. We don't get a warranty so have to suck it up. My 2005 is a dry use car so hasn't been affected...yet.
