Same guy... Same mild rebuild

thinking about the Crane 2031 cam. Is this a good OEM replacement.

I don't want to put in anything that will screw with the stock computer.

Most combos I've seen with such a build have been closer to
250 than 300

Please don't think I'm here to be a spoiler or rain all over your parade

I am just trying to have you see what others have done which will
give you an idea of reality

Seems like he says on his site 265 is about it when using OEM stuff

Again ... If I'm mistaken ... Someone put up the correct values :)

Also ... I've seen more that a few Aluminum aftermarket head based
h/c/i combos with aftermarket intakes and aftermarket (not alphabet)
cams be in the 270 to 280 range because they were trying to
tune with fuel pressure and dizzy twisting.

Seeing as how I've tipped the 200k miles point, just having a fresh stocker would be exciting!!

I'm not looking for big #'s.... Just looking for the most bang for the buck when I do rebuild. I don't race and I don't high rev ... so, looking at some hp spec #'s, it looks like everything pulls the same at 3k revs. The stocker actually has better #'s in this range than the Hi-Po stuff. The aluminum performance heads don't take off until 4-5.5k range, Which I think I 've done
twice in my life!!! :lol:

I love the TFS kit, but is probably overkill for my driving habits... But, with a stronger build, I would probably not baby it as much either...

I'm quite torn....

any suggestions?? :shrug:

I mean, by the time I do some work on the E7's, I'm gonna be half way to some Twisted Wedges.... And with the TFS kit, no Intake work... No Cam matching ,,, etc. I feel like just saving up the cash so I don't have to dink with all the small stuff....

Have you ever looked at any of those dyno charts that have been
put up here ;)

Some of em put it all over OEM iron heads at low and mid range
and certainly
On the high end .............

the OEM heads are gonna peter out much sooner :Word:

THe charts I've seen have similar numbers at low revs for almost all heads.
the HP values don't jump radically until Hi rev .... meaning Hi Flow. This is why these are called performance heads. You don't buy them to shift at 3 grand....

This is kind of what your saying anyway... :shrug:
