I have a 06 mustang v6, auto with 39,7xx miles on it 10,000 of those miles are on the highway, here is my problem when i brake it sounds like my rear brakes are squeaking. When im slowly creeping up on a light they dont squeak mainly when im getting off the highway and slowly down or going from 60mph down they squeak. The pads haven't been changed but why would my rear brakes sound like this ? I figured the fronts would wear out a lot faster. I heard somewhere these mustangs have problems with the rears squeaking. I plan on later taking a look at them. Any input would be awesome.

It might not be because they are worn out, it could be that the pads are glazed over. A lot of squeaks are from high frequency vibrations between the pad and caliper I think. Try searching some of the older threads. I know a lot of people have had squeaky brakes, usually the fronts though.

actualy rear brakes in these cars are prone to wear out more & Faster than the fronts, i just replaced all four of min at 40,xxx the rears were practically DONE... get your self some hawk pads and be done with it !

Well my theory is some ppl ride` the brakes with an auto when they play spin the tires not saying you do. Also cars with traction control every time you punch it and start to loose traction the abs brakes kick in and cause more wear. :) I have neither.

That's why you should drive a manual, my car has 36,000 and my brakes look almost brand new. When mine wear out I'm getting Hawks, maybe upgrade rotors at the same time.

true, manufacturers now set the rears to apply more pressure a little quicker to prevent front end dive. My SIL has a 2006 Cad STS, his rear pads went out at 25,000 miles. The fronts were fine.
