I think I have found a winner. I have been looking for a black wheel with a polished lip and no chrome. A local custom shop can get me these out the door with Nitto NT555 255/45/18 and 285/40/18 for about $1900.

Wheels are 18x8 and 18x9.5, shop owner says those tires will fit fine. Is that true? Anybody have any experience with TSW wheels?

Shipping cost are crazy high to Maui so ordering something like black bullits from A.M. comes out about the same price. I am thinking TSW has better quality than any replica wheel.

They will fit fine but they'll increase your fender gap because of the shorter sidewalls. If I were you I'd look for 50 series sidewalls for the front and 45s for the rear.
And no I have no experience with TSWs.

not necessarily. i have a 165/80/15 up front and a 325/50/15 out back. my fronts are 2 inches shorter then my backs.

the difference between a 255/45/18 and a 285/40/18 in height is .05 of an inch. i dont think you'll notice that.

the first number is how many mm wide the tires are, so my tires are 165 mm wide. or 325 mm wide. the second number is the percentage of the width that the tire is high. so my rear tires are 50% of a a 325. the third obviously, is the rim size that the tire will mount to.

Thats a great explanation............I never knew what the second number really meant other than thickness from the street to the wheel! LOL

I asked my custom shop guy about a higher second number and he also said what you said. "the difference between a 45 and a 40 is a half inch."

My stockers are 17, new wheels are 18. Do I need to do anything about my speedo or am I good? I thought I had read where it doesnt change anything.

Wheels were ordered today and should be in Monday or Tuesday. Just in time for next weekends drag racing!!:nice:

Those tires will be fine on those wheels. They will have a slight bulge in the sidewall, but will give the appearance of being slightly wider than they really are.:nice:
Your 285/40-18 (27.0) is really close to the OEM 235/55-17 (27.2) height so no real difference in the speedo. According to a tire calculator, the speedo will be .7% faster (when it shows 60 mph, it will actually be 59.6 mph).
Also the reason the 285/40-18 looks shorter than the 255/45-18 to most people is due to having more rear fender gap than the front.

nah not even a half an inch. the 255 is 27.01 inches tall, and the 285 is like 26.96 or something similar.

those tires i believe are around a half inch shorter then stock if i remember right.

a different size tire will make the speedo a little bit off, if you have a tuner you can look up the revs per mile or ask the shop what they would be for the rear tires, and program it in there. i switch between a 27 inch tire and a 28 out back, and i dont change the speedo at all.

Good info guys............thanks. Less than a half mile an hour off, not to worry. The gf always says I am speeding anyway, now I will just tell her the speedo is actually off and we are really only going 55 not 80! LOL
