New Magnacharger

Just put a new magnacharger on the pony, any suggestions on where to go next without going overboard? Only thing in the works is a custom JLT intake - I'm not trying to beat any records but want a car that can walk away from rice when I feel like it.

Also, anyone have any experience with the $200 add on to the factory warranty from Magnuson?

mm...how much boost you running?

easy power with a smaller pulley and a couple more PSI.


Exhaust...long tubes, o/r mid pipe...anything like that will give large gains with a blower


gears would be pointless really

You could probably pick up a solid 30 RWHP with l/t and an o/r mid pipe with that blower
 
Well the beauty of the Magnacharger is that it's the perfect blower for daily drivers IMO. You won't get drastic power increases which is great for reliability and it starts working only when you want it (think Mad Max which is cool as hell).

If I were you I'd optimize the setup with better drivetrain components, and suspension/brakes upgrades and focus on your technique. That will pay dividends compared to other cars which focus more on making mad power.
 
your hp/tq numbers seem low. my 06 with only a magnason blower put 397hp/382tq to the wheels.

The numbers were indeed a little disappointing - but I'm assured there are at least 20 horses hiding after the next tune so we'll see what the dyno says then. Did the H pipe make a noticeable difference? I'm thinking it would be too loud with the SLP's?
 
Is everyone still running the 3.3" stock pulley? I only spun up to 5.7psi with the stock pulley and want more but hearing belt slip with the 3.3 I don't know if there is anymore left without running some 8 rib pulley set and a heavy duty tensioner....
 
almost 8 pounds (7.8 on the last dyno pull) - I have a modest 341 hp at the wheels with 328 foot pounds. Will an X-pipe do anything noticible?

I used to think 300 rwhp was the goal, now it's 400, where does it end?!:eek:

I have a different blower (Vortech V2) on my 07 GT, but very similar power (364 rwhp) to your Magnusson. I just recently added an SLP X-pipe with high flow cats and it was very noticable at our local dragstrip.

Best 1/4 mile before the X-pipe was 12.34 @ 111.93, and best 1/4 mile with the X-pipe was 12.14 @ 113.05, so I saw a two tenths improvement in ET and my trap speed went up 1.1 mph.

I'm sorry but I don't see how this is really any different than any other blower out there. It's not going to be any better for a daily driver than a Whipple, KB, Roush TVS or Edelbrock, or Roush M90, etc etc. I drive my car every single day with 524 rwhp with the Roush TVS and I have zero issues. My car drives just like it did when it had bolt ons until I get into boost. We're all entitled to our own opinion but I just want to know why you say that.

wow your numbers seem really low im at 425 rwhp 410 rwtq . stock pulley ,msd coils, ht0 spark plugs , custom tune be pro dyno.

Who's tune are you running? Who did the dyno pull and what kind of dyno do they use?
 
Fellow MagnaCharged Mustang owners, are you all still running the stock 6 rib belts? Also one more questions, is everyone still running the stock belt tensioner or aftermarket HD like the one Steeda offers?

Seriously the reason why I said that is because the Magnacharger from what I gather is the only supercharger that gives you the option of not building boost at all. The bypass valve closes at a certain throttle opening allowing the blower to make boost only when the gas pedal is pressed a certain way. That enhances driveability especially in heavy traffic and in situations where boost is neither necessary nor recommended.

Other superchargers don't have that option and can be a handful to drive if you have a lead foot.
 
yes stock 6 rib belt and stock tensioner . 8 psi of boost

I'm jealous, I have some mad belt slip now @6psi. I have the smaller 8psi pullie but last time I put it on, my car shredded the belt just going down the road. I punched it and shorted shifted @5200rpm and the belt was in pieces. I'm thinking about the HD belt tensioner from Steeda to help out but don't know if that is just a stop gap to help now @6psi or a piece that will let me run my 8psi pullie all the time and not have to worry about my drive belt.
 
is it possible something is getting on your belt ? do you use any type of tire shine under the hood to clean things up ? maybe there is an alignment issue with the belt .
 
I don't believe anything is misaligned or wrong. I have had the supercharger for well over 15,000 miles and that includes a few road trips over 1,100 miles one way. With the 3.3" pullie everything is fine and when I switch to the 3" pullie, the belt is in pieces in no time flat (the first time I dip into the gas). They look like they are lined up the same and everything looks right and sounds good at idle.......:shrug:

All roots or twin screw superchargers built for the S197 have a bypass valve. I haven't even seen the above mentioned superchargers for any vehicle without a bypass valve for a long time.

It's how the bypass actuates that is different. On most superchargers the bypass merely controls boost pressure for spikes things of the sort. The Magnacharger uses it turn the boost on and off based on throttle position.
