I test drove a 2000 Mustang Roush Stage 2 today and the owner had installed a ProCharger on it. Car is in great shape with only 14,000 miles. It drives great with amazing power, but the constant whine noise inside is unbearable. The owner said that this is typical for a ProCharger. The noise is constant even at idle and does not go away. Is this normal??

NOTE: I have never driven a supercharged car before; I have owned a couple turbo charged cars that you could hear the turbo at high RPM, but nothing at idle or low RPM. This noise sounds similar to an AM radio station when you go threw a tunnel or get bad reception. It just whines at a high pitch.

Prochargers are unbearably loud at idle. It seams normal to me. Vids are all over youtube check a few out.

A whistle at idle is very normal for most centri superchargers. However, a high pitched wine through out the RPM band is not. You are most likely experiencing a boost leak, and with a Procharger it's probably where the MAF mounts to the reducer using 4 bolts, nuts and washers, and a combination of paper gaskets thats located in the wheel well. Make sure the nuts and bolts are tight and their is no material missing from the gaskets. When I had this problem, I found the leak by spraying down the supercharger piping and couplers with soapy water while the engine was idling and the vaccum line pulled from the bypass valve.

My Novi 1200SL gets whisper quiet after 2k RPM, it's a rarity for a supercharger.... and it makes me sad when I hear KBs scream... I can't beat them but I can almost keep up :)
