boy nothing makes mustang guys seem more insecure than bringing up a fast import!

Well, I guess we all have our own definition of fast... you should sell your mustang and get into a nice new all plastic EVO, then put +50k into the motor. Make sure you bounce off the rev limiter at every red light and make the blow off valve noise as you pass any domestic car, whether it's modded or not. You'll look pretty cool doing it and all the kids in the movie theater parking lot will love you.

I've owned two modded Mitsus before my Stang, a 97 GS-T Spyder and 91 Galant VR-4. Both run the same 4g63 engine and with basic mods they pull like mad when the turbo boosts. That, and AWD is SOOO fun to drive in all weather conditions. I'm really enjoying my Stang, but if I had the opportunity to buy a second sports car, it will most likely be an Evo.

As far as I've seen, Mitsus have long been ahead of Mustangs in powertrain design and technology compared to my fox body. e.g. 4g63's have always come with DOHC, roller rockers and distributorless ignition since 1990. When did Ford finally do this? Stock bottom end can take ~500hp. There's no aftermarket heads for 4g63's because they already flow well.
 
While i agree that evos make a ton of power and dont run even close to what they should, i think that its pretty nuts what they do with a 2.0L motor. With minimal work they are in the 11's, but after that it gets expensive fast.

A friend of myne has one, he paid like 400 bucks for a titanium oil fill cap, that picked him up a good 3 tenths.
 
SOTP fast is one thing....but is it really making 500whp and running low-10's, or is that just what the owner is telling you? I hate to break it to ya, but import guys have been known to exagerate on occasion. ;)

I would bet its closer to 300-350whp and rungs low-12's based on the mods you described above...but its all talk in either direction until you've got timeslips and dyno sheets to back it up!

...and I agree with the others EVO's are overrated.

No it has a gt35 so is prob is 500+ but its still a roach that prob runs low to mid 11's. Most of those cars need 550 600 hp to go 10's, but they trap mid 130's. Junks.

it prolly does run low 11's, he just put the combo on and tuned it, the tracks been closed for a while now.

but I can totally see the 130+ trap in this car, take in mind the evo 9's have variable cam timing..

but there was a legit 400hp (dyno sheets) vortech 04gt there that wouldnt run him, not even for fun, the comparison between the two is insane.. he had no chance

The sad thing is that's with john force behind the wheel. Put your average pickle pirate evo driver in it and you can add a second to those times.

Well geez I would hope not. It's 100hp less, weighs as much as an evo towing a boat and probably doesn't hook. I guess the majority of evo owners are similar to the majority of mustang owners :scratch:
 
I thought this was a mustang forum?:shrug: For how much smack the import crowd talks on domestics i bet there wouldnt be any threads on their forum giving mustangs props.........i'll stick with my $1700 89 gt i bought that is actually pretty clean for $1700. I put about $600 in bolt ons and am going 13.60's on street tires. this week i bought: roush 200 heads with 1.7's, tf intake with 70mm tbody, 24lb injectors with billet rail and regulator, 255 pump, tfs stage 1 cam and lifters and a stock 91 shortblock with 30k miles all for $1200 plus a honda 50 pit bike........ Gotta love the mustangs and the parts you can get for cheap prices. An evo is just a waste of money to me. Its just my 2 cents though......
 
Easy fellas, let’s not crucify the guy for reporting back on a ride he took in someone else’s car. I have no love for the imports either, but fun is fun.....and if he says it was a blast on his personal fun-o-meter, who are we to say otherwise? :shrug:
 
And all i was doing was putting my input in on the thread started for us to read. This is a mustang forum and i thought it was funny that we were talking up imports......you just dont see that happening from the import side is all. I could agree fun is fun, i can respect any fast car. But we are all here because we like imports, i mean mustangs........:shrug:

all im saying is that the car rips and is very fast for a bolt on evo..

i do not care if anyone gets butthurt about talking about a 4 banger, if its fast its fast, i can appreciate that. if i had the funds i would either have a 2jz gte or a l92 lsx in my car, it wouldnt be a ford based engine..

thats why ricers suck, we can tolerate them, but they cannot tolerate us. thats usually why muscle car guys usually have a better track record of being respected. how are we any better than them if we act like some homo's when talking about said car, and call bs, and say they are ****?
