This is a strut mounting kit for a 2003 GT Mustang with a 4.6 engine. Does anyone know how parts (C) and (D) mount? I'm thinking that part (D) bottoms out on the strut shaft just the way it is positioned in the picture, then part (C) sits on top of it just as it is shown in the picture, then the strut is installed through the strut mounting plate on the strut tower, then part (B) slides over the strut shaft along with the short sleeve shown in the picture, then part (A) flips over and sits on part (B), then the locking nut is installed. Then the upper end of the rubber bellows slips over the lower edge of part (D). Does anyone see it differently? I will be installing these parts from scratch. I'm helping my son who's is getting rid of the after market spring lowering kit that he had installed several years back. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The bump stop (not shown) goes on top of that. Part "C" goes on top of the strut shaft.

Next starting from the engine compartment, turn part "D" over. Insert sleeve into part "B". Insert part "B" into "D".

Cap part "B" with part "A" (turn over). Put a nut on it.

I think the picture should get you 90% there without any help from me anyway.

Ok, here are the parts I was able to get from Ebay. Looks like part (D) is already installed on the strut mounting plate like you said. What appears to be missing is the item you refer to as the bump stop. You are saying that part (C) slides down onto the strut shaft first, then the bump stop on top of it. Part (C) appears to be made of rubber, what keeps it from sliding down past the stop position of the strut shaft? I would think that a solid flat washer would need to be installed first. Perhaps if I saw a picture of the bump stop, I would see things more clearly. Thank you for your support.

IMO, you are making this harder than it really is.

Put the bump stop on the strut. Part "C" will be on top.

Take the part with with the bolts in it. Take the bolts out. But that on bottom of the strut towers.

Take the top plate and fit it on the studs. Follow the picture sent (picture of left strut taken from the front of the car).

Put the sleeve inside part "B". Mount the strut as normal. The top of the strut will poke through the towers.

Put "B" on the strut shaft. Put part "A" on next (cup down). Nut last.

I can not take a picture of my bump stop without taking things apart.

I have done these things several times. For the life of me, I can't remember everything in absolute detail. I think there should be an outer plastic sleeve below (or attached to) part "C". Some lowering kits call for modification to the bump stops due to the reduced travel available to the strut.

Note, size is hard to figure on some pictures. If "B" is too small to hold the top of the strut, then it is actually the bump stop. Which then means you are missing the rubber piece that fits right under part "A".

Let me know if there are any questions after reviewing the latest post.

Look at the attached picture. The bump stop is the part on the right.

Bump stop on the first. Next the part on the top of the picture.

The part on the left is the rubber piece on the very top.

Is this the strut bump stop for a 2003 GT Mustang?

I understand how everything mounts and bolts above the strut mounting plate. What I'm trying to find out is what mounts below the strut mounting plate. Please remember I'm piece mealing this assembly from parts I purchased on Ebay. It appears that the person I made the purchase from, did not send me all the parts necessary for this strut assembly. If the item in the picture below is indeed the bump stop, what I would like to know is what type of material it is made of? Is it made of rubber? If it is, then I would think that there would be something like a solid flat washer that would sit under it at the bump stop location where the arrow is pointing to. Thank you for your support.

Very Good! This is what I wanted to know. Now I know what I need to get. Thank you very much for your outstanding support.
