Pypes Mid Muffler install HELP!

Ok so I have my car at the shop and the guys working on it can not get the pypes mid muffler system to mount up correctly. I was there all evening trying to get it right and it looks impossible!! The problem is the clearance around the m80 mufflers, they are darn near touching the gas tank on both sides. Anybody else have this problem or know of an easy fix??

The muffler shop i used had to cut the pypes system in front of the mufflers, bend, and reweld.... cost me 150 to have this bolt on system installed... it is a bummer they dont fit right, out of the box, but when it is all done, it is worth the hassle.

A competant muffler shop should be able to do this...also, the right side tip was 4" further out than the left, that also had to be cut and welded...

took em about 4 hours to get mine in.

Haha competent muffler shops do not exist in my area, the car is at a mustang performance shop...very competent guys, it is just this mid muffler setup is tricky.

I may just throw up the stock cat back and weld in the m80's and then do the axle back muffler delete.

I'm sorry you are having problems with that system. It is one of our harder systems to install because it is so many pieces. If just one pipe is twisted the wrong way even a couple of degrees, it throws the alignment out completey. A lot of times shops just get frustrated and take matters in their own hands and modify it rather than tinkering to get it right. Sometimes you just need to walk away from it for a while and then come back and try it again and then it goes right in.

Thanks for posting up, we are going try again on Monday and see what happens.

Also one question for you, on the straight pipe with the slight bend off of the h-pipe....which way should the bend be pointing (I know towards the muffler)...what I mean is should the bend face in and towards the drive shaft or out and toward the ground...etc?

should have went with a better quality exhaust, then you wouldnt have this problem.

This is my second Pypes cat back, first went on my 1991 GT and now this one on my 2010 GT. This mid muffler set up is tricky......but guess what...it is done, and the mother *****er sounds bad ass!!

There is no problem with the quality of the kit and I would do it all over again if I had too!

:nice:
