any body ever try this company and disc brake kit?

so which is the better kit from the disc brake swap store?? Would be for 68 mustang with 17" rims. The single piston caliper with spindles or the 2 piston with stock drum spindles?

looks like they bolt on using 2 bolts... if this is correct i would says to stay away:notnice:

you mean the same system that gm has been using for something like 45 years with nary an issue?

in the end what disc brake system you choose is up to you. i have used several over the years and for the street they are all good. the two pin gm system is easy to service, and super reliable. just remember to grease the pins once in a while.

the original factory ford system used four piston calipers, also quite reliable, but harder to service.

if you want to fill those 17" wheels with big brakes, check out mustang steve and vintage venom. these use the ford factory two piston cobra calipers.

if your spindles are in good shape, and you are not rebuilding the suspension, look at systems that bolt on to the stock spindle as you dont have to realign the front suspension, and you dont run into possible suspension geometry issues that can crop up, especially with modified suspension geometry.

I would do the 4 piston Kelsey Hayes kit. It will install without having to take apart the suspension and having to realign the front end. The KH calipers are also what came original on the cars with disc brakes.
You will love how well it stops and easy it is to install. Give Dennis a call directly and talk over what you need and want to do. Good guy who will help you out and answer your questions.

He can do what he wants. I'm just putting in my 2 cents...

I've called many of these places like scarebird, master power and they recommend not putting there kits on anything more than a street cruiser. That doesn't sound very good on my end and I will not install anything less than I would put on my own personal car. :notnice:

CSRP is a great kit and I have had no issues with them or there production quality:nice:

The calipers are probably fine, but the bracket doesn't look very convincing. At least, from what I can judge from the picture.

I'd go with a kit from CSRP. Not very expensive and they're Ford kits.

hey sparky, are you running pretty much stock engine? As of right now im kinda leaning towards csrp, Im running drums all the way around and anything would be better. Im kinda on a buget, but both setups will cost about the same i think in the long run. I do also have a cougar, so when the time comes to upgrade my mustang to 13" rotors i will have the cougar to donate these disc brakes too..

68dustin, yes stock motors on both. If you decide to go with the R&C kit, you'll need to get a master cylinder, recommend a manual disc/drum for a 74 Maverick, & a prop valve.
