I am really bummed they didn't do a style refresh on the rearend. BLAST!

The 2005-2009 is still the sexiest beast in this "new era". In my important and should be listened to opinion.

agreed; the back end is the weak link on both the 2005-2009 and the 2010+, IMO. what were they thinking?? i have an idea to do a little modification on the (spolierless) decklid of my 2009; i think it will look way cooler. i've got some sketches i may try to post and see what people think. i wish some of the aftermarket companies would do something with the rear decklids instead of just the hoods. it would be an easy bolt-on mod that i think could look great.

Whats wrong with the 05-09s back end?

ha ha :) well, it's a little boxy and plain.... just sayin.... also, the spoiler choices are a little weak, which is why i just took mine off, but now it seems so boring. wait till i get my sketches posted, then tell me if you think that it wouldn't look better. i agree though, that overall the 2005-2009 is the best out there right now; that's why i bought one. :)

Who knows... maybe the GT rear bumper will be different than the V6? I don't think they've officially released the '11 GT yet... The thing that kills it for me is the black plastic around the bottom. It wouldn't be the first time the GT and V6 had different bumpers.

exactly - what were they thinking with the black plastic? i also don't like the way they kind of chamfered (sp?) (beveled) the corners. it looks like they spent about 10 seconds thinking out that design.

I did a spoiler delete on mine too. I like the way is looks alot better then the stock one.

i like our rear end because its so simple, you can do whatever you want with it, on something like the new ones it'd be too easy to look over done because of how much is going on back there.

i kinda figured they wouldn't change the rear end at all, powerplants is what ford is good for changing. look at previous year mustangs

79-93 all bolt up the same, you can make a 79 look exactly like a 93 and vice versa. 94-98 same, 99-04 same. 05-09 same.

sometimes they change minor things like add a hood scoop and tint the headlights like in 2001 [think thats the right year] or 96 cobra hood, vs reg gt hood on cobra.

dunno on the motors in foxes too much, but 94-95- 5.0, 96-98 non pi 4.6 2v i believe 99 was the first year for pi 4.6, 2v. 05-2010 3v 4.6.

i like the new gen s197, but at the same time, i like the original s197 better. just like 94-04 are sn95, i'd take a clean first half sn95 over a new edge.

i think ours was a great design, not alot to the design, so theres not much room for people to say well i dont like _____ This about it. its a great platform, what the mustang has always been, perfect for modifying and making it your own. not alot of car enthusiasts buy mustangs and keep them stock. hahah.

I personally think the new body style is ugly. I wouldnt trade my '05 straight across for a brand new one. I actually really like the looks of the rear-end of the 05-09 stangs. They remind me alot of the first fastbacks in a way which is prob one my favorite mustangs made. I do agree tho, the stock gt spoilers are really ugly, I plan to change mine when funds allow.

Check out Classic Design Concepts Ducktail Spoiler. It's nicely understated but it gives a performance style shape to the rear deck. Not obtrusive or ricey looking. :nice:

that's actually my favorite out of all the spoiler choices (or the Xenon spoiler), and if i ever put a spoiler back on, i'd go with one of those. i'm still hoping to do some fiberglass work on my old decklid (i have a new one now) that should make it look really cool.

I'm still having so-so feelings about the rear end on the '10-up Stang, but that front end is the nices one yet and more than makes up for the back.

...and I kinda like they way they've rounded off the corners on the '10-up cars. It gives the illusion that they've made the car smaller (a big complaint amongst a lot of Stang lovers) without actually changing its dimensions. :nice:

We are stuck with the new POS rear end until 2014, the design run lasts 4 yrs. I will be upgrading to a GT500 then. It will be the 50th anniversery...ford better pull out all the stops!
