has anybody had problems with powersteering after doing a burnout or doughnuts. this is the second time mine has done this. i have an 08 gt with the usual bolt ons. i lit the tires up for about 5 seconds and afterwards the steering got tight and stayed that way. i dont think its normal. any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Just got my car back. it turns out that the powersteering pump was going bad. had nothing to do with my reckless driving. The dealership did not have my pump in stock so they are having me come back in next week for the job, cost $477. the kicker is that when i drove it off the lot i had power steering again. there may be a minor noise if you cut the wheel at a stop. but it works. should i continue on with the pump replacement?

Mines been making that noise since I bought it used 1 1/2 yrs. ago and it still works fine. I've been thinking about draining and changing the fluid but since it's getting so cold so fast it will wait until spring now.

Ford powersteering pumps are god awful, they always whine, My explorer does it, my grandfathers old f150 did it, my buddies moms taurus did it. All cars will whine when you cut the wheel all the way also. Keep on keepin on, until the pump stops working period leave it alone. My truck has 206k on it with the original whiny ass PS pump and it whines but works fine.

I know when to take good advice and this seems to be one of those tmes because you have previous exp. with this on your Fords, Thanks because "if it aint broke don't f*** with it. :nice:

man. i completely burnt the damn pump up. i dont know how. all i did was a burnout, and a short one at that, please tell me im not the only one that does that from time to time. anyways, once the smoke cleared i had almost no powersteering at all. i didnt slip a belt or anything, and i dont see how a burnout has anything to do with powersteering. i would have expected to drop a driveshaft or something before this. these GTs and any sports/muscle car should be made to take some major abuse. you dont buy it if your not gonna drive it. i dont know if i just got my hands on a dud pump or what but i replaced it and all is good. i even cut the tires loose to see if it works, and it does. have any of you ever experienced this? i found it to be very strange for a muscle car this new to do that. maybe im crazy.
