Replacing T-chain on my 87 stang tommorow just wondering if I need loosen up the bolts or drop the oil pan at all. If so can I let it rest on the crossmember. I have Oil pan gaskets just in case. Thanks for the info, I would rather push a Ford than drive a chevy any day!

just need to remove the front 4 bolts that pass into the timing chain cover from the oil pan. Timing cover gasket kits usually include a replacement oil pan gasket just for the front area.

You WILL need a harmonic balancer puller and a socket big enough for the nut on the harmonic balancer. Make sure you have this before you start.

I got all the water pump bolts out but the last one used vise grips to get it out (about 1 hr) was going to use a stud remover but not enough there. Replaced them w/grade 8. Everything else went well put new front seal in cleaned alt bracket and t-cover torqued everything . Took about 7 hr by the time all tools were put away. Thanks for the info!
