So I should be getting about 9-10k back from my taxes since i bought a house this year, now im seriously thinking turbo is the only thing i want to do on my car, supercharger and nitrous is not really on my list. now i have a basically stock 2v engine with 95k miles on it. what are my options here and is a safe turbo something i can manage with this type of money??

goals would be near 450-550hp (not necessarily right off the bat but sooner or later down the road)

i want a single turbo

i have a couple friends with long block rebuild experience and a very good friend who happens to be a great welder as well.

so what are my options here people?? what do i need to build it and what kind of prices?

WOW! $9-10K back! I just bought a new second home. My old house has been empty and I'm still paying the mortgage on it. I can only hope get near that amount. Also got new $100k+ job... we'll see....

Have fun spending the $$$

9 or 10k whoa, wish i was u. i got married last year and my wife & i found out we owe the irs $1059.

anyway hellion makes some nice looking turbo setups. i personally dont have any experience with them but i've heard some goods things. might be worth looking into

everyone told me it was a bad move to get a loan for my s/c kit. i paid it off in a year.............i say do what makes you happy. as long as you have some money put back i would spend like i wanted to.

you cant take the money with you when you go and you are only young and dumb once:D

I'm not really understanding ur peoples view on this money, it's is 9k that is my tax return, it's not a loan so I don't see the problem here, kilgore I have no idea what ur talking about, thanks for all u guys turning this thread into a very unhelpful topic

You're 100% right. It's your money you can do whatever you want with it and its really none of our business how you spend it, just don't get caught with your pants down with the mortgage if you lose your job or something.

Anyway if i were you i would stick with a supercharger, seems like every car ive seen with a turbo had major drivability problems while the superchargers are more tryed and proven.

But if you really want a turbo id go with a hellion kit, ive heard good things about them.

I'm already paying my 30 year mortgage off in 19 years with my current payment schedule and I have finished all the projects on my house, I want to just enjoy the money as it's supposed to be stimulas money to put back into the economy by purchasing goods, I understand the most responsible thing would be to pay off part of the house with it but I'm fine with the 11 years I've already cut off and choose to spend some money on my car instead, let's pretend I didn't mention where the money is coming from and that I just saved it up specifically for my car, now maybe I can get some real answers to my questions, I've got some saying 03 forged shortblock and hellion kit or supercharger, thanks for staying on topic, those are helpful

In my opinion turbo is just too problematic. Too mechanically complex and too expensive. You will not only need the turbo kit but you will need to modify suspension, computer, drivetrain, etc. The turbo projects always end up being huge money. Think carefully before you go turbo man.

All I am saying is if you do it you will most likely rerget it. Its too much for a mustang like trying to put marble tile in an outhouse so to speak.

Do an MM box kit, a nice stereo, or put some money into your house or yard that is what I would do anyways.

where your money comes from doesnt really matter but i've done a lot of research on the sts turbos kits and they seem really nice i dont think they make a kit specifically for our cars yet but they sell a universal kit that shouldnt be to much trouble. Its crossing my mind for sure. :D
