Hey All!

Been a looooooooooooooooooong time since I have run a thread here.

But, I have a good question for us carburator fans, so here it goes...

On my FFR Roadster, I am currently running a FMS 5.0 345 HP crate motor with an Edelbrock Performer intake and a 600 CFM DP carb, big ignition, etc. Since it is seeing mostly track duty (road racing), it runs between 3000 to 6000 RPM's.

I am thinking I can get some more power there with an intake manifold swap.

So, I'd like to hear all your opinions and experiences here. Just changing the intake, so no other suggestions. The Cobra already is a killer on the track, I just think I can get more out of it with the revs up.

Many Thanks!!!

Dan

Sticking with my Holley, easy to tune!

The 3x2 takes all of an hour to tune. Once done, it's done for good. Ain't touched mine in 6 years since. Runs great on my 331. Only change from out of the box was a step up 2 sizes in jetting from 58's all around to 60 primary--62's secondary. The 2x4 may take a bit more to tune, been a long time since I did one. But that was also on a 427 with points ignition. The 3x2's runnin with a Duraspark and the large post type cap & 9mm Ford Racing wires

a rpm intake wont provide much hp increase from your current intake, to justify the cost fyi. if you do decide with a rpm, use a plenum 1" spacer to see better results. bang for the buck at maybe $20
and remember he will rarely see low rpm how it is driven. torker intake is a smaller single plane intake similar to vic jr with high flow suited for smaller displacement lower rpm operating engines. that might be your best choice.

thanks for all the input so far.

Car only weighs 2190 lbs wet, so I don't have as much to pull around. Still, it's only 302 cubes, so I do need some grunt.

On the DCVER I ran a Torker, i remember the car being dead until about 2500 to 3000, then BAM!!!

But, with alot of track use, I use a wide range of revs, so the choice has to work.

the two most popular have been the Vic JR and the Air Gap. Open plenum vs raised dual plane.

Hmmmmmmmmmm............

I second the air gap intake, nice wide powerband for roadracing, if your drag racing Id say either victor manifold, depending on your cam

nice car btw, do you know how much it weighs? also, is that one of those kit cars?

edit- just saw the 2190 weight, nice! bet the 350hp feels strong on the small platform

She runs very strong on the track, able to stay with most. Killer in the corners and in braking!

It's a Factory Five MkII I built from 2004 to 2005 with alot of spec racer stuff on it. Still street legal, but more of a club racer now. Definitely not one of them car-show cobras, this one gets pounded. 13,000 hard miles, and one wreck at Watkins Glen.

Top speed so far in 4th is 140 MPH at 6000 RPM on the limiter.

Scary!!!!!

Car with a 302, cam and ported polished stock heads with a RPM, not the airgap though. We took it off and put on the weiand S-Car-Go linked you to and noticed an all around improvement.

My car, the Vic jr came in too late compared to the airgap RPM. About 3500. If you can stay above that in and out of the turns, I think that would be the bee knees. If not, I'd do consider the air gap or ecelerator
