Fiberglass parts wanted

Has anyone ever used any fiberglass parts from Us Body Source or Unlimited.I am building a drag car and want to know who makes good doors,fenders,and trunk lid for a fastback ? Thanks for any info ,Jim.

with ANY glass work your pretty much bound to have to do ALOT of fitment. I guess it just comes with the territory. The same can be said for metal body panels to so...
 
alot of times it's a crap shoot. For my 67 I got my shelby style hood from K.A.R in Columbus,Ohio. It's not too bad but still needs lots of work and a bit flimsy. My shelby trunk lid from CJ Pony(paid $400),needs sooo much work. End caps from NPD are horrible. Got a chin spoiler(fiberglass) from Branda and it wasn't too bad. On the other hand I bought a 4 inch cowl hood from Cervini for my 85 GT,it practically fell into place on it's own with just the normal prep work. Too bad they don't do classic mustangs,they're stuff is top notch,seen other pieces on other cars,and very minimal work needed.
 
Very true. I got my stuff from a variety of suppliers (Maier, Branda, Mustangs Unlimted) and nothing fit well. In fact some of it couldn't even be bolted to the car. What got me is that the import guys can buy a Chinese-made carbon fiber hood for under $400 that fits PERFECTLY. I remember venting on the horrid quality of my Maier stuff and someone here posted about how nice the guys are and how he was sure they would make it right, and it was certainly an isolated incident, etc. He was going to show my post to one of the Maier guys and have them get right back to me. Never heard from him or them again, which tell me they know its garbage but as long as people are buying, why change it?
 
i planned on getting a cowl hood from k.a.r. this spring. this **** makes me nervous. i don't want $400 of prep work in a $400 hood. my friends (all with late model stangs) can't seem to understand/grasp the quality problem of hoods for classics. they just buy their stuff and slap it on with no problems.
 
The K.A.R hood I got would require a good amount of work for a driver,but needs a lot for something for show quality like I'm after. Also my body guy beefed up the latch area with a long piece of aluminum riveted to the fiberglass. He felt there wasn't enough meat there to safely use the latch. The underneath is also rough fiberglass. I drove from Canada(across the river from Detroit) to pick it up after buying it off ebay. I'm sure your closer than the 4 hr drive one way I had. Go there and take a look before you buy. Super nice people though I must say, treated me real good, fair amount to see in the store.

$400 worth of prep? Try $1200 worth of prep work, because that's what a local shop charged to get a fiberglass hood to fit nicely on a fastback they did. I found that most body shops are scared to death of fiberglass for some reason. My hood was much worse than any I've seen and I learned to do it myself and spent a few hours and about $30 or so in materials and got show-quality results. In fact my 'glass hood now fits better than the original steel hood that came off the car. It's all about how much you're willing to learn and how much effort you feel like putting into your car.
