96 Cobra not blowing air through vents

My 96 Cobra is not blowing any air through the vents. It only blows air through the defrost and floor vents but not the main vents. I looked under the hood and noticed this red broken cable/hose. What is this? A vacuum hose? I'm not much of a mechanic but if its something fairly easy to fix, I don't mind getting under the hood. Any thoughts/ideas? Thanks

Yup, your problem is probably because of that broken vacuum line. Just replace it or try to plug it in. This happened to me a couple years ago, and my A/C fan was working like you're saying.

OK, I went out to the garage and started the car. I then held the two ends of the vacuum line together and I heard a click. After that, air started blowing through the vents. Can I just connect the pieces together with electrical tape or does it need to be an air tight connection?

Needs to be an airtight connection. You might use a piece of very small diameter rubber tubing to connect them. Or, you might use a shrinkwrap tube. You might also find a specialty vacuum type connector at an auto parts - I think I've seen those before at Vatozone or Advance Auto.

Make sure you do it right and make it permanent.

Good luck....

I went to Autozone and they gave me a small piece of rubber tubing. Unfortunately, there isn't enough of the vaccum line sticking out on the right side to slide the tubing over it.

I had the car in the shop at the dealership last week to get a new power steering pump installed. I'm not sure if they broke it or not but I may take it by there next week and see if they'll do something about it.
