Hi all,

After many miles of fun, and maybe too much track ,
I broke a rod ending with a hole in the side of the block :(.
I'm now searching for a spare short block , stock , complete with crankshaft , pistons and connecting rods .

My S197 is a MY2006

I intend to remove the whipple from the car after fixing it , so I will go for a stock motor .

My problem is that I live in Italy and here is not so easy to have spare parts .

If anyone has a proposal, my e-mail is :
[email protected]

Thanks everybody !

It has everything to do with it. You just don't supercharge a 3-valve without a real competent professional tuning it and then go out and run the piss out of it. Seeing that he's from Italy I'd say it was not tuned properly and was probably an email tune.

I'm glad someone here knows where I was coming from.. It's amazing.. I can't believe he's thinking I was going to blame the tuner. I guess he hasn't seen some of my posts and understands my stance on tuning late model Fords. :rlaugh::rlaugh:

Supercharge ANY motor like that and run the piss out of it, and it WILL eventually break parts. The tune has little to do with it. THAT was my point. If you think that the "tune" will prevent anything bad from happening, and make it bullet proof, you've got a LOT to learn about engines.

LOL.. Damn, you got me there! Good job.. :rlaugh::rlaugh:

I forgot one thing though, you're completely wrong. The tune has so much to do with the longevity of late model Fords than you can imagine. How do you think guys blow up their cars with 8 lbs of boost but than others are able to run 10-12 lbs of boost and drive the hell out of them? It's just luck? No one is saying a good tune makes a motor bulletproof. Anthony can attest to that my attitude is far from that. It sounds like from your post that your intention is to "school me" so I'm not going to waste any more of my time. If you're genuinely trying to talk about it than I'll talk to your heart's content but I'm not going to waste my time with someone who can't be proven wrong.

How you ask ? That's simple. No two engines are completely the same. Build two of any engine and one will put out more power than the other. One will last longer than the other. And to further complicate the answer, no two drivers are the same either. No two engines and the driver's mashing the go pedal will produce the same results in power and longetivity. The reason for my orignial question was simply that I see more than my share of guys who will blame anything but themselves for what goes wrong with their cars. Seems to be more and more of an occurence these days. It was refreshing to see the OP take full responsibilty for what happened to his engine.

All the OP wants is help with finding a stock short block, not help with finding out what went wrong. He also states he is removing the blower. Can't we keep focused on the issue instead of placing blame for blowing up a motor?

To the OP, good luck with finding what you need in Italy. I'm sure you can get one shipped from the states with all the requisite issues involved (customs).

Since most of the money will be spent on labor and getting the parts there, it would probably be worth it to get a forged bottom end. Something like the Roush P-51 setup or something similar. There are quite a few options out there for suppliers.

If you have a Whipple HO kit with the standard pulley and run the piss out of the car with the supplied tune it will more than likely pop the block way before it would have popped with a pro dyno tune. I'm speaking about the 3-valve engines.

I would also second getting something more than a stock shortblock. With all the cost involved in getting one shipped there... Might as well pay a little more for a built lower.
