Mach 1 Whipple Swap

Not for another week or so. I wanted to put a few street miles on it before tuning it on the dyno. Assuming no problems I'll drive it back and forth to work next week and soon as Jeremy has time we'll see what it does. I'm also waiting on a snub idler before I dyno it and that should be in early next week.

I'm still not driving it regularly yet. I found a couple of little issues driving around the shop that I wanted to fix and I also killed a FPRS as well and fouled out the plugs. I took care of all that and also found a couple of trouble codes, one of which was pulling even more timing. I didn't get a chance to update my tune today so with any luck tomorrow that will be taken care of and I'll drive it home at least.

I really want to get it home so I can get the shaker mounted to the hood and clean it. It's pretty nasty looking after sitting in my garage and the shop for so long.

Yeah that's what I figured. I was able to bring home most of my shaker parts and work on the brackets for it last night for a bit. I should have something complete this weekend and on the car.

What really sucks is it's suppose to rain all weekend.

I thought I would give an update since it's been over a month. I did get to drive the car a bit back and forth to work but no WOT. We got the car on the dyno and no matter what you did at WOT the car would go lean. We spent the past few weeks trouble shooting everything in the car trying to narrow down the problem and it looks to be something within the fuel system. All of the wiring, PCM, sensors, MAF and tune have been eliminated as the problem leaving fuel delivery. I even went as far as having a well known tuner try it with different software and same results.

So I had already planned on going to a return system and upgrading everything at once so I could go E85. Since I have to do it sooner I'll be sticking to my original plan but will be using 80lb injectors instead of going bigger. I'll be able to run a smaller pulley and race gas if I want more power.

Main fuel system components came in yesterday.

The car ran today for the first time in two months. The new return style fuel system is done, E85 in the tank plus a handful of minor changes. Unfortunately the base tune is off so it wouldn't idle but we'll get that straightened out soon enough. On the stock tune it would start and idle just fine it's just way lean. I just wanted to hear it run to verify no leaks, good oil pressure and the fuel pump wasn't louder than the engine, which it wasn't. So I'm happy. Shouldn't be long now till it's tuned and on the street.

I have brackets made so I can mount it directly to the hood. It's the only way to do it due to the size of the Whipple there just isn't any good mounting points and clearance is VERY tight around the blower pulley. Plus as much as I'd like a true shaker it would be a shame to hide the Whipple.

I'm going to get it mounted this week as well as get my Cobra mirrors installed.
