Whats up everybuddy, I was looking for some opinions on a H-I for my 331 stroker motor. Looking to make 400+ without a power adder. Figure id list what I have now and maybe from the real world perspective, what HCI would make this possible?

In garage....
331 stroker from Coast high forged everything with flat top pistons.
Comp Cam XE282 ( supposed to be a killer N/A stroker cam )

Now feel free to fill in the blanks.

Heads...
EFI Intake...
Fuel injector size...
Mass Air Size....
Throttle body size....

Any real world experience or dyno sheets appreciated!!!!!:D

AFR 185's from FTI or TFS fast as cast with FTI valve train, port matched victor 5.0 intake, 75-90mm tb, 42lb injectors, 80mm pro-m meter...DONE :) Should surpass your goals actually.

My car makes about 400rwhp with unported tfs heads but its an 11:1 347.

Well from Coast High my shortblock should yield with a 58cc head somewhere around 10.5 to 1 compression. So with a AFR 185 or a TF 170 (TW im assuming) and the Victor should be good??? Sounds like a plan. Cuz thats what ive been hearing anyway but only wanna do this once ya know. LOL. Call me stupid but whats FTI mean?

don't need 42 lb injectors.. 30lb's should be enough... I have a DSS 331 stroker with trick flow 185 factory CNC ports, rpm II intake, 80mm PRO-M, 75MM TB, 10-5-1 comp, electric fan, pullies, Anderson B-41 Cam, and I'm just below 400 HP... with a custom cam (ala Ed Curtis or comparable) 400 HP should be no problem.

I have a 331 with 10.5:1 with a dyno sheet that shows 400.
I would go custom cam, Ed just did me a solid roller for my 331 last August.
Could not be happier with it, will have it on the dyno this spring but expect over 400hp. With a 4.56 rear gear I will twist it to 7K, I should note I have a single plane intake with a quick fuel 750cfm.

Sent you a PM

Scott

I am finishing up a 331 now. I went with a Comp cam XE274HR-12, AFR 165 competition ported, upgraded valve springs and a TMoss ported Cobra lower and upper, 30lb injectors, 70MM TB, 75MM MAF for 30's. I would expect the engine to dyno 400-425 at the crank.

Well i know this cam should be Bad Ass for my set up but, very well noted, a custom cam may be in the works. Either way...with the 185 AFR and victor 5.0 and 30-42# injectors with good MAF and throttle body ill take my chances to the 400 mark. Money is getting tight and will def be done in early spring!!! I will post a video and dyno sheet from ALTERNATIVE AUTO PERFORMANCE where I get my tune. As I know there are quite a few ppl trying to acheive this N/A 400+ mark. It helps a lot with your knowledge and opinions and I feel pretty confident after hearing everything. I will list everything I have on the car to the T so that others may follow in a definate path :flag:

Ill try to be an asset to this site rather than a pain. :D

Tossin around the 42# injectors idea. Would it matter what size i had from 30-42 if im gettin it tuned? Would the mpg change because they are bigger or will it just be what it needs to be regardless because of the tune? So what im saying is, would the mpg change if i went bigger injector or it doesnt matter cuz it will be tuned to spit what it needs anyway.
Injector cost these days used are pretty close anyway so why not get bigger just cuz and maybe something later on down the road.
Anybuddy pickin up what im layin down???:D

my experience with 42#ers is that it was hard to keep them from being too rich in the lower rpm ranges. i am guessing it is because the pulses are so short. that is why i ditched mine and went to 30# injectors.

and since mine is a 100% street car with a typhoon intake that i won't be winding up to the red line, 30# injectors is plenty of injector for me.

i got my injectors from these guys:

http://stores.ebay.com/Fuel-Injector-Connection

the set of 8 30# injectors i got ran me about $185 shipped

Go with 42s. I have a similar set up little more wild but similar. My 30's are maxed out. I see mid 90's for duty cycle up top  If its tuned, it will be fine. If you were relying on just the maf then it may have driveability issues.

Yep, 42s are the way to go. At 420rwhp, I was running 30# injectors on the ragged edge. Why not have injectors that you can tune equally, but will be easier on them and still allow room for growth?

I'm running 120# injectors now.... purrs like a kitten at idle :) Don't try that without a stand alone, though.

Plenty of people have tuned 42s and made them driveable with the stock box.

The 30# inj will feed your motor, you could go 36-38# to be a little safer, it truly depends on the exact combo. I've made 380+RWHP on a Mustang Dyno with a 333 and had plenty of injector at 39psi with 30#. You can increase the pressure if you need to and still be safe with a 400HP goal.

The large injectors can be a pain down low unless you are running a aftermarket EFI system like Chris does.... 42# dump a ton of fuel at idle and can wash the cylinder walls out or foul plugs, I know with the SCT or PMS I am pulling a lot of fuel out.

10.5:1comp
AFR185
Holley SysteMAX or RPM II
CUSTOM CAM, get the best for your money (power and drivabilty)
30-38# inj
70-75mm TB
75-95mm MAF

Chris, hit me up let me know what is going on ;) Hope your having fun...:nice:

My 333 Stroker has 30lb injectors, AFR 185s, 70mm Accufab TB, PMAS 75mm Mass Air, Cobra Intake not ported and my Comp cam is a very similiar grind. My stang made numbers in my sig which would convert to around 400RWHP on a dynojet. Running great with 30lbers cant see how 42s would hurt:shrug: Good Luck Enjoy!

EDIT when i started typing this post Chris post was last one when i finished theres 2 more posts...... whats up Rick forget what i said about 42s go with 30s LOL

Johns car was the one I spoke about, he is a customer of mine....

John, the custom cam I put in your car is totally different then that 282 in the way it acts. Custom is worth every penny ;)
