Hi all,

Could one of you be so kind as to help me name/ID these wheels on CSX-2601? I believe they are Halibrand knockoffs, but I just want to ID them for sure.

Also, once that's done, anyone know a place to get replicas, perhaps in more modern sizes? (If not classic sizes works just fine too).

Pondering the idea of putting something like those on my '66 notch-back....

Thanks!

Unless I'm missing something, neither of those wheels are the ones pictured on CSX-2601. The 289 FIA wheels used on the Daytona Coupes and many 289 Cobras are now reproduced my Hawk, and I'm not aware of another supplier. Kirkham uses these wheels, and I agree they're great-looking, however they aren't drilled for a five-lug Mustang setup, and I'm not sure if they could be modified. Here's a link to the wheels I think you're looking for...

Hawk Cars - Cobra-style alloy wheels

If you want a similar look to these wheels in something you can simply bolt on, the '65 and early '66 GT350 wheels were modeled (at least the spoke style) after those wheels, and would look somewhat similar if painted. Jay Leno's GT350 has these wheels, and the centers are painted a darker color which looks cool as well. Here's a pic of my unmodified GT350 wheels as you'd buy them today, made by Paradise Wheels and sold through places like branda.com and shelbyparts.com...

I think amorrow is right... The Halibrand replicas are VERY close, but not exact.... again, I think....

What would be involved in swapping the rear end over to a pin-drive setup from the 5-bolt setup? I presume it would imply a threaded center hub and the pins being what goes into the back of the wheel hub itself keeping it from free-spinning on the center shaft? (or something like that anyway).

Has anyone ever done this with a '66 era car?

Thanks again everyone for all your help!

Btw, just saw the add on the side of this thread and made me wonder: Would the FR500 wheels fit on a classic Mustang? Or again, are we looking at hub mods? Thanks again!
