Alright so I got my 2010 4.0 a little while back.. have been going back and forth putting some mods on.. so far i have put on:

Pypes true dual conversion, Pypes high flow CC, BBK shorty headers, BBK 70mm TB, I have also been using the diablo trinity performance tune for 93 octane.

Basically, I have been wanting to put 373 gears into it this week, after that I will be putting a turbo into it.. I have been running into a few issues with that.. I have been doing a lot of research on it and see that a lot of guys have been doing custom kits .. curious as to if anyone knows anything about that.. I have also looked into Squires Turbo Systems.. a bolt on turbo kit there.. quite pricey.. I am not looking to put a 12000 system in it.. ( which I have been quoted at already once ) any suggestions?????

Thanks.:flag:

if you're going turbo or centrifugal s/c you'll want more gear than 3.73's so you will spool faster. Heard alot of stories on the Squire turbo, seems like a LONG way to push pressurized air from the rear bumper to the front. If you want a turbo feel car that builds boost at higher rpm why wouldn't you spend $3G-ish on a centrifugal ? You can get a non intercooled system made for your car with everything you need. Add some 4.10's and you're spankin it.

i dont know your situation or overall goal for the car. but i have owned both the v6 and recently bought the GT. and i can say that the GT is a far superior car stock. i have heard and seen people put blowers and all kinds of mods on v6s but it barely pushes them into v8 territory. if you put the same money into a v8 you would have an almost untouchable speed machine. if i were in your shoes i would remove the 6 and drop an 8 in it. that will be pricey but worth it. you would have a sleeper that your insurance company wouldnt know about.

Turbonetics has a V-6 system part number 15184, you can also try an X charger they work well. I had a customer that had one already on when he started coming to me, it ran 13.5 it's an automatic car and it was on a street tire. The weakest link in the v-6 is the 7.5" rear end it will blow up on you. Your best bet would be to buy an 8.8" from a v-8 or buy a new unit from Ford FRPP number M-4001-A373 it comes with 31 spline axles, carbon clutches and 3.73 gears. I've never done this conversion but I believe it will be a fairly easy swap.

awesome.. yea i just got the 373 put on .. well they are being put on right now.. so what you are saying is that with the 373 put in on a 7.5 rear end it will blow? will there be any damage to the vehicle if i just keep it with the 7.5 until it actually does blow out and then have them put on the 8.8 rear end with the spline axes and new clutch?

Right now I am rolling with : Pypes true dual cat back, Pypes high flow cats, BBK 70mm TB, K&N CAI, BBK shorty headers, and the new 373 gears.. all with the trinity.. I am not using a custom tune yet.. I am not sure when the best time would be to do that.. I guess I could do that now since I will have to wait a couple months for the turbo.... input anyone?

Oh, and about how long does anyone think I have until my 7.5 rear end goes to **** on me?

The rear will hold up fine until you start going bigger power with sticky tires and for a turbo you don't want anything higher than the 3.73's. Turbo's need load to spool quicker but you also need some gearing to get the heavy Stang moving so 3.73's are a good compromise. Mike at Powerhouse has a very good V6 turbo kit I would recommend giving him a call at 814 774 4966, their website is being upgraded.

You can keep it until it blows but it will blow quickly when power is added to it so why drop a few hundred on gears and labor just for it to blow, trust me it will blow quicker then you think they always have I've seen countless of them over the last 17 years.

yea i am going to be buying the ford racing rear end.. i have already had the 373 put in on the stock 7.5 rear end. so i am going to have to wait for it to blow until the 8.8 will be installed.. i will check with powerhouse on their turbo.. thanks guys i appreciate it.. i have a drive from chicago to north carolina this weekend... i should hope that it wont blow then. oh and is there anyway that putting those new gears on the 373's that their should be any kinda of lag in the acceleration?

Your 373's should be fine without FI, did you just do gears or did you also ad a T-LOK LS unit? There shouldn't be any lag, did you adjust your tune for the new gear ratio? You'll need to do this if you haven't.

yea im running the generic 93 octane tune from the trinity.. my guy calibrated my speedometer on that tune.. so it should be straight.. i just did gears.. i have a manual.. so far i havent adjusted the tune for my fuel air ratio...do you think that is needed yet? i looked online i am looking at putting in the 34lb fuel injectors.. a source says that the stock rails and lines are straight for up to 400rw and the fuel pump as well.. so i am thinking about just putting in those new injectors and then going in and getting it all tuned up.. thoughts??? anyone have experience with the Zex kit? much appreciated guys.

75 shot max on the stock block w/stock internals. Should have spent another $200 on a T-Loc when you had your gears installed. If you do add a shot of nitrous you will have to anyway. Seriously, I'd start looking for an 8.8 for your car if you plan on any kind of performance upgrades. They come with a T-Loc. As for the injectors, don't think you'll see any hp increase from just injectors, you still need the same air/fuel ratio so unless you have a lot more air, the extra fuel won't help.

So your tune was adjusted after your swapped gears? The correct gear ratio needs to be entered in the tuner. Just checking?

Yea the guy that did it had the generic 93 octane tune from the trinitiy adjusted to the new 373 gears oh .. im looking to get some street radials... anyone recommend anything good? im a daily driver so i can have anything too crazy.. any ideas?

oh .. im looking to get some street radials... anyone recommend anything good? im a daily driver so i can have anything too crazy.. any ideas?

are you talking about street tires ? there are high performance all seasons, high performance summer (dry) tires, ultra high performance summer and all season. Drag radials, etc. You need to narrow it down beyond 'street radials'

Ok sweet so I can get a Tlock with a manual still?

a T-Loc goes in your rear diff, where the gears were installed. You can have a T-Loc, or any other kind of limited slip device with any transmission.

ultra high performance all season.. a wider one.. not too much a radial .. alright i appreciate your input on the tlock.. that comes along with that new 8.8 rear end on the ford racing site. that will be my next buy

So I have been realling looking into a nitrous system.. off american muscle.. I dont know anything about it.. i do know that it needs to be tuned and the timing all right.. bottle heater.. all that.. I have very minimal knowledge of it all... I am just worried about blowing my engine and all the damage that can be caused if used wrong.. also curious as to what my car can handle...

I have 373 gears, KN CAI, 70mm TB, BBK shorty headers, Pypes high flow cats, and Pypes dual cat back.
I also am running the 93octance performance tune from diablo trinity.. the tune has been modified due to the new gears.. so its adjusted. this week i am going to be putting on the 8.8 rear end from ford racing.. comes with the 31 spline axle, tlock dif, and the carbon fiber clutch..

so basically I am wanting some info on how to properly use nitrous.. what i need to support the nitrous.. and how and when to shoot it.. pretty much in lame terms.. thanks guys.. really looking forward to the input.
