Sorry for the overdone "will it fit" question but i've been looking around and cant seem to find the right answer to my particular situation.

I have an 89 GT so it has the smaller 87-90 front fender openings. I am interested in running 17x10's in the back along with 17x9's in the front. My understanding is 17x10's will fit in the back rolling the fenders and removing the quad shocks. My concern in being able to the the 9's up front.

so i guess my questions are.

Is anyone running this particular set up on an 87-90?

What size tires?

I could go 8's up front but i love the look of the lip on the 9's on the wheels i want.

Thanks in advance!

I am running a similar setup. You will be fine depending on front tire size. Im running saleen replicas @ 18x9 front with BFG kdwII 265/35/18's. It WILL rub at full turn and going up curbed driveways, but I've learned to know my limit and it has not been a big deal. This is on my 88GT. Out back I'm running 18x10's w/ 295/35/18 BFG DR's no problems!

I bought some 17x9 Cobra R replicas with 235-45-17 tires and when I tried to put them on my '86 Capri the rears fit fine, but the inside lip of the wheel on the fronts hit the strut. The only way I could make them work was by getting longer studs and used a 1/4 spacer plate at all four corners. I ran this set up for 10 years... I kept an eye on the lug nuts to make sure they didn't come loose, but they never did. They never rubbed either, even when I had the steering wheel turned all way left or right and this car was lowered also. Because I used the spacer plates, I didn't even have to remove the quad shocks either. It gave the car a wide, mean looking stance... see for yourself.

I'm running 17x9 true cobra r's with hoosier r6 275's, they are about the same size as another brand 295, and the large meat looks great out front

mustang5L5- while my brake and spindle set up is currently stock i would like to go to a 5 lug at the time of my wheel swap. Is there a particular set you would recommend that better accommodate a 9 inch wheel in front?
