ordered kooks long tubes, catted x, and boom tubes.
then i ordered a 1 piece aluminum driveshaft.
not sure who i'm going to get a tune from.

i figure next month gunna order upper control arm mount, 275/50/15 mickey thompsons, and get ready to run mid 12s in march.

i was originally planning on ordering a whipple. but i had plans all last year to run 12s all motor. ended up going with a tall, crappy tire, that didn't hook and when it did, it bogged, and i could never find 3rd gear to save my life.

after reaching my goal of 12s, i don't know where i'll go from there. depending on how the car feels at that time, i may work on some custom exterior things. or i may feel the need for low 12s and throw some cams at her.

sorry for bumping my own thread, but whos the best tuner to go with now? i have a bamachips tune on my car now. but from what i read they went thru some serious problems, dunno if that changed their ability to write awesome tunes.

i noticed brenspeed wants around 150 for 3 tunes i believe, while bamachips wants 115. i really only want 1 tune but i want it to be a flat out amazing tune, without strapping her on the dyno.

Good luck on reaching your goal with your upcoming mods:nice:

I don't know if that is possible as even great mail order tunes can be tweaked and improved upon in person on a dyno. I attended a dyno day two years ago with Doug (Bamachips) and he was able to get about 10 HP more on the dyno over his own mail order tunes that the guys were running! Every car responds slightly different... After having my car dyno tuned by Doug and gaining over 10 HP and 10 TQ peak, he was able to net nearly 20 HP and 20 TQ in the lower RPM range! I will always get a dyno tune to maximize performance AND to make sure the A/F is dead on:D Not sure who I'm going to go with next as well hearing possible troubles with Doug, but there are many shops less than 2 hours from me that have great things said about their dyno tunes!

ah yeah what i meant by flat out amazing tune. i guess i worded that kind of weird for what i'm expecting.

basically i want to get a new tune because i dont think that the one i have now will be adequate. although from a few places i've read people say you dont need to get a tune for swapping over to long tubes. i pretty much want to maximize my set up without spending alot of dough on a dyno tune.

if i'm understanding the different emails i've gotten today, my boom tubes shipped out. also latemodelrestoration where i ordered upper control arm mount, exhaust hangers, and the neccesary bolts for it, shipped out 3 lbs worth of stuff. i hope thats not the 8 bolts only hahah. i am hoping it is at least the exhaust hangers with the bolts.

i hope the UCA mount is heavier then 3 lbs. stockers heavier then that and thats the one i messed up. hahah.

i wish i had like 4.56s in my car, but i am gunna go with a 26 inch tire vs the 28 i had last year, so if i hook, it should be faster. my gears should be more like 4.30s.

I was told that using a tune written for factory manifolds with O/R H (could be for any mid pipe, I'm not sure) with LTs could foul your plugs. I was given a new tune for the LTs for free, so what the heck.

yeah i have ford racing shorties on there now. i intend on getting a tune its just a matter of who to get it from. got the long tubes and catted x today. went out and bought a magnetic angle finder also.

so i got quite a bit waiting to be installed

antisquat brackets
driveshaft loop
driveshaft
upper control arm mount
long tubes
catted x
boom tubes

to install.

i think friday i will order the tune. right now i guess i'm going with brenspeed. i'd go with bamachips but it seems hes really backed up and i dont want to drive the car without a tune.

tomorrow night boomtubes should be here. so gunna install them right after work. should be cake.

then maybe saturday do driveshaft driveshaft loop upper control arm, antisquat brackets.

should be getting driveshaft tonight.

well just for grins I'd talk to Chris at Blow by Racing. They seem to have a great rep for e-mails tunes on manual trans cars. Brenspeed does a good job with automatics I hear. I've bought stuff from BBR, they are awesome people.
