Wet Sanding Question

Recently got my car repainted and the guy did a good job, but there is some orange peel in a few spots that I want to wet sand out. I have wet sanded before and buffed it out, but never on anything with fresh paint. The guy said to wait a month before using any wax on it, I would guess the same time frame applies for any compounds ? The guy used Omni base and clear. The guy has a homemade booth in his garage at his house and does do nice work, but for some reason didnt lay the clear smooth in a few spots. How long should I want to sand it ?

I wet sanded and buffed mine 36 hours after the car was painted.

Yea you can buff fresh paint, if you wouldn't shops would be loaded with cars waiting 3 months to get buffed. The thing with a wax is that it puts a protective "shell" on the paint and seals the paint. This is bad on fresh paint because the paint doesn't completely cure for 90 days and then the wax would trap in the solvents that are being released during the curing process. Compounds and glazes do not do this.

the sooner you wet sand and buff the easier it will be. on the last car i painted i sanded and buff the whole car the morning after i finished the clear coat. 3m's perfect-it compounds and glazes work great.

I paint without a booth. In the winter it can only get so warm in the shop so I usualy wait about 3 full days afterwards. In the summer the paint dries so fast. I start sanding on with 24-36 hours later and buff it.

Wax and sealers are recommended to use after the paint fully cures 90-120 days later.
