right before i spun a bearing, i was gonna install some shorties to gain a lil bit of power and some sound. long story short, i was gonna have them installed when my engine was out but was sent the wrong product- i got a refund but its now gonna cost me to install due to the engine being back in the car..

so- are they worth putting in with the mods i have now? i know LTs would gain more but i dont wanna replace the mid pipe..

thanks!

shorties really wont do much for ur car minus the sound..the stock manifolds actually flow pretty well and arent that much of a restriction ..especially with ur mods. i feel if your gonna put headers on, do the LTs. plus headers can tend to cause other types of issues such as leaking and rusting out..something u should consider if u daily drive your car in all weather ..dont rele have to worry about that with the stockers..

I don't think they're worth it. I laugh at people who buy them, especially on a mod motor because you can't even see them so it takes the bling factor away. I don't think they change the sound enough to be worth it.

If you want more power and better sound, get an o/r x pipe or even hi-flow cats.

Headers wont get you anything unless your upwards of about 450 rwhp-ish.

damn- this sucks- but i guess it saves some money.

i have an SLP catted x pipe with hi flow cats- i THINK i can remove the cats due to the system being ' slip fit..' decent option in yall's opinion?

yeah, its my dd..live in virginia so all kinds of weather- this weekend we get over 2ft of freakin' snow..and i left chicago?

im thinking of starting with lowering it, sct tuner, and removing the cats..just got some slp tips to put on my super 40's..

thanks! i think you guys saved me some cash and put me on a better track.

I put shorties on my car, and it did basically nothing. Dyno numbers proved that too. I researched it a lot, but already had my x-pipe and went against the recommendations of most. Waste of money, especially when you consider what it cost to put them on. When the factory designs the exhaust manifolds they are pretty decent, even in looking at them, their design is very close to a shorty header. Go long tubes definately!!!

shorties aren't worth it in the least bit, you may gain 1-2rwhp at the most...

thanks alot guys...you all saved me some money and a pissed off factor with the shorties..i will most likely go with LT's this summer..right now im just gonna do some ' dress up ' stuff..ive got 82k on the car and it needs some stuff..

- lowering springs
- grill delete
- new headlights ..smoked black ( i REALLY need these- mine are shot and the cleaning kit was so-so )
- slp tips ( already have these )
- new shift knob and maybe bezel.
- chin spolier ( maybe in about two months )

thanks again!

I have shorties. There is value if you are running a blower or run a higher rpm level with cams. No, it's not as much as long tubes but they definitely have value as you start pushing the horsepower up. It also allows me to stay street legal and pass emissions.
