I pay $346 a year through American Collectors insured at $10k. I have the 7500 mile Freedom Plan; this means I can use the car for occasional DD purposes. It is nice to drive the car to work or the grocery store and still have it covered if it was stolen or damaged.

Just a FYI, I had a great experience with Hagerty.

When I crashed my Capri last summer, from crash date to check in hand was 7 days. SEVEN!
Allowed me to buy my car back at salvage bid price as well.
They even paid for all the gas and toll when I went to go get it in NY where the accident happened.

I had to put our 88GT on AmericanHobbyist though do to the age of the car.

They will not cover track duty and probably will deny insuring you if you tell them.

If you wreck at the track it is on you, no insurer would cover auto racing.

I just talked to American Collectors, and the lady on the phone said that they won't cover your car PERIOD if it ever touches the track. Even if you cruise leisurely down the drag strip in an un-timed event, they will deny you any coverage. Her actual words were "ABSOLUTELY NOT".

Oddly enough, right after she said that she went on to ask some questions about the car. One was if it had a roll bar or not. WTF would I have a roll bar for if I never planned on taking it to the track?!

Hagerty: BULL****. I called and tried to get a quote and was denied. You want to know why? BECAUSE MY DD WAS AN 04!!! Guess thats too old for them

Said it has to be five years or newer.... hmmmmm.

so driving it to a carshow in a different state isnt allowed
and if you cant drive it to run errands where are you supposed to be going when you drive it?

My point exactly... This insurance thing sucks ass. I just called state farm, who I am currently insured through, and they wont do stated value unless it is 25+ years. Hagerty wont insure if my dd isnt 05+ and Grundy wont allow overnight trips. FML. I dont want 4k for a car I know I could sell for double in a heart beat.:notnice:

Do you mean as a spectator as well????

No, I think just if the car actually goes on the track. If it sits in the parking lot, I think you're OK. She made it sound like even those low-speed cruises around oval tracks are out.

Wow, that really sucks. American Collectors asked me what year my Fusion was... Now I know why.

On a leisurely drive. ;)

"Yea, I don't know where that bread and milk in the back seat came from... I was just out for a quick cruise."

my insurance already informed me that my car is worth $4500 to them. So if i ever get hit, im screwed out of a lot of money. I want to look into the agreed value, but it seems like i dont fall into any of the requirements for any of these companies. Car is 20 years old, i drive it probably 3000 miles a year MAYBE, but its modified so it doesnt qualify for classic or anything :bang:

Your car qualifies as modified. I do believe it was grundy that I would have had to insure my car as modified because "stock" was for cars 25+ years old.

Thats crazy so is there any of them that don't car if you take your car to work or to run errands every once in a while? Sorry if I have a car wheter it has 5 miles on it or is the only 1 in the world I'm going to drive it otherwise it might as well be a sculpture or something. So I need to find one that will cover me driving the car that doesn't do mileage checks and doesn't care if I drive it.

So Duncan, do you ever take your car to the track? I'm just still dumbfounded that American Collector makes such a big deal about it.

No, I don't. If you do take it to the track just don't tell them.

If you read my post above you will see that American collectors has a 7500 mile Freedom tier where you can use it occasionally to drive to work and to run errands. The cost difference for me to go to that plan was $186 to $346 a year. I think it is worth every penny.

hagerty doesnt care how much or how you drive your car, just as long as its not your main and your main is 2005 or newer. ****in retards forget that two months ago my car was 5 years old...

December 31st: Reliable
January 1st: Worst car ever.

**** off Hagerty.
