anyone know of anything cheaper than tirerack?

so i am in desperate need of new rubber on the back of my GT. im looking into the general exclaim uhp ($121) or maby the sumitomos htr z($94) or htrz 2($88). that is for 275/40/17. $22 for shipping. is there anywhere online cheaper than tire rack with shipping around the same or even cheaper. im super tight on funds right now so im looking for the best deal. also which of the two sumitomos are beter? and is the general exclaim uhp much beter than the sumitomos?

try discounttires.com they claim they will beat anyones price. worth a shot. they just opened a lot of shops in okc. they are pretty cheap or try crusinconcepts.com they have some pretty good deals

tireracks prices are hard to beat. from what i have always seen, they seem to be cheaper than discount tire. i have ordered 3 set from tirerack. i have had the sumitomo htrz's (17s) , sumitomo htr + (17s) and just ordered some general uhp exclaims (18s). for the money, sumitomo is hard to beat. i really liked both my sets. they are pretty quiet, comfortable and done well in the rain. best of all, they were cheap. i dont have many miles on my generals but i can already tell these are very quiet and very comfortable. they have awesome reviews and do very well in any catagory. they are priced higher than the sumi's.

i dont think you can go wrong with either :nice:

Discount tire direct tire has great pricing on like beter brands of tire I don't see the generals or sumitomos. Its looking like I can't beat tire rack. So are the exclaim uhps worth the little bit of extra dough over the sumitomos? I hear that the sumitomos don't really hook well in a straight line. But idk if the uhps are any beter?

Try your local tire places, seriously. By the time you order from Discount Tire, pay shipping, and pay to have them mounted and balanced locally you've typically exceeded the cost of the local guys anyway.

well shipping is 20 bucks to my front door, and i mount and balance all of my own tires. I am pretty shure that i am going to order them from tire rack. there prices are pretty incredible especially considering how reasonable shipping is. now im just trying to decide which tires to get. these are for the rear of my car by the way. here are the tires in my price range. help me decide which will be the best performance wise, straight line hook, and cornering ect

275/40/17

kumho ecsta spt $115

sumitomo htr z $94

sumitomo htr z 2 $86

yokohomo s drive $133

bfg g force super sport A/S $135

all of those are decently priced for 275s the last two i listed are getin a little up there for me right now but hell i could probably swing that right now. those htr z's at $94 are looking pretty good to me though

I would skip right over those Kumho Ecstas. I had a set on my Focus, and the bald Sumitomos would hook better in gravel on my Mustang than the Kumhos would hook on dry cement with the Focus. That, and after about 5,000 miles they would hum pretty loud at 70mph. I was pretty happy with my Sumitomos overall, although they tend to run slightly skinnier than other brands. The difference in look between my Sumitomo 315s and my BFG 315s was huge.

Last time I ordered my Yokohama 275/30/20s, Onlinetires.com had the best deal, even after shipping was added. I think it is hit or miss depending on which tires you buy. Check them out...

Onlinetires.com

when were your tires manufactured what was yout DOT date on them because most of these places that have amazing deals eng up sending out tires that are never mounted but manufactrued years before

EDIT: this company has horrible ratings just like most cheap places and dont even think of buying anything from tires-easy.com you get what you pay for, just buy from tire rack and call it a day

I saw the reviews about people receiving old tires and multiple other issues. Seams like the reviews were isolated to only a couple people. All the dates on the tires I got were good. They had fast and cheap shipping, think I received them in 8 to 10 days. I had no issues at all with onlinetires.com. At the time I bought my tires, the total price was about $150 cheaper than any other place, including Discount Tire. I would buy from them again.

The last couple times I bought tires, discount tire direct was the cheapest to my door. Sometimes, they will offer specials if you get/use their credit card. You can get an extra 50$ rebate, plus 0 interest if you pay it off in 6 months.

Discount Tire is the cheapest hands down. I now have 2 work vans that I own, and I go through tires on my stangs/vette very often. Build a relationship with the store manager or even a rep, then they will match or beat any price you can find. They will wave the shipping/install cost if you can work with them. If not, just go to another discount tire and try again.

I just bought tires yesterday and was planning to go through Tire Rack, but I called my local Discount Tire and they said they will match Tire Rack's price if you include shipping. So I went to Discount and had my tires same day, for the same price as going through Tire Rack. Just something to consider.
