Dirty looking foam in Radiator

My garage queen 7 up 'vert developed a small radiator leak while sitting in the garage this winter. When i removed the radiator cap, there was a Dirty looking foam on the top of the anti freeze.

I panicked and thought the head gasket had blown. I pulled the dipstick and could only see clean oil, no foam or green fluid.

The only other thing is I had the radiator repaired 2 years ago. This was an old school hot tank and solder fix. Is it possible I'm seeing the leftovers from this repair?

Any ideas on what this is?

Drain it, flush it, run it to operating temp, then check it. If all looks well, drive it 10 or 15 miles (putting the hammer down occationally), then check again. If all looks well, then sleep peacefully.

In answer to your question above... Yes. The solder resin from forementioned repair could be floating to the top.

Did you have water wetter in there? Happens all the time with that stuff.

Also, not a big fan of repaired radiators, why not just buy another?

Lx wing

What wing is that on there? Did you get rid of the luggage bumpers?

The wing and deck lid are from Cervini's, really well made. No luggage strips! All fiberglass, no rust.

Got a new radiator and overflow tank.

Got a new radiator and overflow tank and rad hoses installed last week. So far, everything looks good. I farmed the job out to a local Mustang shop, Karl's East Coast Speed. First class work at a good price.
