Well i'm currently doing a 5 lug conversion and i've already done one before. But i bought the M2300k brake kit, so it was complete. This time i pieced it together to my liking. Now ive hit a problem. I can't track down the correct hard brake lines that run along the axle tubes on each side. I can find the soft lines to hook to the calipers(50resto). But have been unable to find the hard tubes(2). Is this something you can get from the Ford dealership? Seeing as its cobra brakes? What year do i ask for? '94-2004? Are they the same as GT/V6? Thanks!

This is what I did, and it saved me a bunch of money/headaches.

Remove the old drum brakes. Mount your soft lines however you want them, and trim back the original hard lines so that the end of the line comes right up to where the fitting would screw into the soft line. Remove the hard lines. Go to an auto parts store, and buy new inner fittings (or reuse the old ones) and buy new outer fittings for the soft lines. Take the fittings and old hard lines to a GOOD brake shop and ask them to bend NEW lines to exactly match the old ones (because you know they are going to fit and you have them trimmed for the location of the soft lines). Tell them which end of each tube needs which fitting and to flare the ends for you also. Voila: You now have custom-made hard lines that you KNOW will fit.

If you find a good shop, they should be able to do something like this for you in minutes, and probably only charge you for the cost of the brake line (a few bucks).

Screw 5.0 resto. Rock auto has replacment brakes hoses for like 8 bucks each, I just bought them for my 5 lug swap. I was able to source the rear hard lines from a junkyard.

just use the entire brake line assembly from your old drum axle, reflare the ends and hook up the soft lines to the calipers and you're done, just like factory orientation just now you have disc brakes not drums, everything will bolt to the new axle just like the old one

Autozone sells the soft lines too....

I made my own rear lines. I bought preflared stuff from NAPA and bent it myself. Was easy. I also had the rear out of the car, so i had room to work

I just want to go out and buy the lines. I realize it may be easy. But i really don't have the time to do it nor get the parts and go to a shop. I'm hoping the ford dealership has them new. We'll see.

1994-1995 lines are the closest you'll come, and I don't think they are the same really. Center mount line is in a different spot i beleive.

I don't think there are any purchased lines you can use. Everyone i know who has done the swap either made lines or rebent their drum brake lines

Stock 94-95 Mustang hardlines is what you want that ride on the axle tube. Guys like 1990Coupe and 25thMustang made their own lines. Run them along the axle, get new fittings and the flaring tool. I've never done it myself, because I've got the yard with a bunch of stangs out there. I just get parts and make them work and find spots to mount the lines.

I know this is old, but this is where I'm stuck.

I have the calipers from a 2000 v6 mounted and was wondering why the stock lines won't work? I unbolted them and they reach the calipers, but I remembered hearing that I needed new lines.

If I do need new ones, Mustang5l5, do you remember which premade line you bought, are the fittings on the ends 2 different sizes? The napa by me has a ton of premade lines with all sorts of fittings.

There is a junk yard by me that has like 3 or 4 94-95's that have the rear stuff if thats an easier option.

I forget the lengths I used. I got a few since they were cheap.

I think I got the 3/16" inverted flare line. It threads into the center t. Then imused adapters I got from auto zone. They are in the yellow package where the fittings are. 3/16 female to 1/4 male I believe. The 1/4 threads into the 94-95 soft lines

The rear end I got didn't come with any brake lines at all. I guess I'll have to go get the soft ones from the junk yard (or brand new ones) and then buy the pre made ones at napa.

Napa sells the soft lines as well.....15 each or so.

I just picked up the soft lines from a 01' convertable.

It looks like I will have to work them a little bit to get them to ride on the axle tube.

If they don't work, oh well, I got them for $5 each.

Are the rear calipers the same from 94-04? The part #'s are different for the calipers for 94-95, then the 96 and up.

Rear calipers are the same. Only difference is the pad support bracket between cobra and gt.

The 01 lines mount to the body I believe. Hopefully they will work on the axle.

Those fittings are available at auto zone as well.

I have an extra one I bought but it's not wih me or I'd post up the part number

Yea they do mount to the body. I'm going to have a come up with something to make it work. It's really not a bad fit.

And the adapter at advance is part # 327850. (the guy at the local advance near me is ASE certified parts specialist and helps me out a ton).
Its $1.89.
