The Official "4-Mod-Fox" progress thread

It's the 4.6L's too. The Mustang has that problem. I heard the 08 Mustangs came with a one piece design tho. I'm sure Mustang owners change their plugs more than F150 owners since people mod the crap out of Mustangs versus F150's. :rlaugh:

I'd either change them to one peice when the truck was brand new, or leave them in there forever. You don't need to change them til well over 100,000 anyways and are you gonna keep it til it has 100K. I wouldn't. I've got a 97 F150 with almost 124K now. My Dad's 03 has 135K and they are both still running strong with original plugs. A friend of mine has a 97 Expedition and he changed his for the first time at 300,000. He's got 330,000 on it now. He runs a delivery company.

yeah im nervous about changing them in the 07, ive heard about them snapping

You guys should change your plugs. Your trucks would run so much better

It's a piece of cake to do them

I doubt it. I've had the truck since 87,000 miles and it's run exactly the same since then.

End spark plug and oil chat....:rlaugh:....time to talk about the car....

I got here a few minutes early and mounted the ABS wire bracket to the struts, mounted up the flex line brackets to the frame rail. After work I want to mount the ABS wire harness bracket that is on the frame rail and install the new flex lines that I ordered this morning. The old ones had splits in the rubber.

30 minutes or and hour here and there adds up. Can't work hard on it til maybe Sunday again.

yeah but what if they snap?

If you do the job right, they won't snap. 99% of the people who snap the plugs are doing them with a warm engine :nono: and torquing them to tight.

I did mine @ 105K. No broken plugs and truck runs better.

Doing them right has nothing to do with 3V plugs. The carbon locks the 3V plugs in there. 2 peice design=SNAP.

Picked up my Raybestos front brake lines. (Made in China, how nice!!!!)

16 bucks each and he threw in 4 new copper washers and the right line looked to have a different size fitting than the stockers, so he threw in the union that you need for the hard line as well. I like them guys, they always hook me up.

I wasn't talking about the 3v's. Do either of us own a 3v? :Zip2:

I'd take em back and try to find some made somewhere else

thats not the answer to my question, so i'll ask again
What if they snap?

they make a tool to extract them

Thanks for the update Justin. Yeah, Justin is right. I have not been working on the car. I've done a couple other things I had to take care of. Second, I don't really want to work on it. I did all this in 2 months, while I did all this same stuff to Hack Job in 8 months.

I'm a little sick of hanging out here. Dealing with the public gets my mind a little hectic that I can't even go back there and mess with the thing. People wanna haggle on price, want things cheaper, it's a PITA at the counter. Buying cars at auction is a joke, all the prices are up and when they come here to buy parts they expect discounts. RRRRRRRR. Thanks for letting me vent.

Car needs to get the door wiring modded, the tail wiring modded, speakers and amps modded and installed. The rear hatch seats modded lie Mustang5L5 and iwashmycar have them. After all that headache is over with, I'm gonna paint it and be done. I can't wait to be done.

THIS IS THE LAST MOD-FOX I AM BUILDING!!! MARK MY WORDS.

Hey man, just to let you know before you go cutting and splicing. All you have to do for the door harnesses if you are fabbing SN panels, the fox switch panel screws right into the SN switch plate bucket armrest thing. Or if you are just using fox panels again, the SN switches will screw into a fox armrest! All I had to do was extend the wires for the power mirrors from the center console into the door! But if you are using the wiring from the Cobra you wont have to do anything like that!

Thank MAC, yeah all I am doing is gonna be like I did on Hack Job. I am cutting and splicing the lock actuator plug to the fox end. I am gonna cut and spilce the fox mirror plug into the cobra harness. Then I am gonna re-route the mirror switch from the door to the dash somewhere. Hack Job's harness was an 01 so the defrost button was in the lower radio bezel. On the 97 harness, the defrost button is below the headlight knob and that is where I put Hack Job's mirror switch. So, I'm gonna have to figure out another location for it. I just don't want to do any of this crap. I like doing big stuff, then when the little nick-nak stuff comes, I'm like......mehhh!!!

I think you're right. I've got like 2-3 areas of :bs: that I have to do with cutting, lengthening, spicing, that I just don't want to do. I just want to paint this thing! HAHA. I drank a lot of beer working on Hack Job, but I carry now, so I don't even think of touching one beer while I'm doing that. After work today, (1pm) I'm gonna go back there and install the tail lights and put the 94-95 harnesses in and do what I gotta do. Then move to the doors. I gotta get that crap done. Maybe I can mod the seats and mount the Mach 460 amps and speakers in the quarters tomorrow. Maybe next weekend I can cut it in????
