I have a couple of questions on this.

Whose rotating assembly are you using? And what do you think of Eagle assemblies?

What CR are you running? Looking at Eagle assemblies, looks like they have a -28cc dished piston and a -19 dished cc piston. That would place me at about 9.8CR or 10.8CR. I'm thinking a custom cam with a 10.8 CR might run really well.

Scat and Eagle are both very good. Only thing I have heard about the eagle stuff is it may be a tad harder to balance and the finish might not be quite as good. But only a few have said that. Built a big block with eagle stuff and it was nice. I wouldn't be afraid to use one again at all. Best price I could find was adperformance.com. Scat assembly, probe pistons, with vic jr 60c heads I have just over 10-1. Definately go custom cam! Do NOT go with a ots cam here. For a little bit of money, it is REALLY worth it. I have had very good luck with Ed at FTI on the hyd roller stuff. I am currently switching over though to a CI solid roller. Can't wait.
 
I got mine from ford strokers, which is a Coast High Performance kit. Custom cam from Jay Allen (highly recomend him), 10.4:1 compression. Jay actually set up my entire top end: heads, cam, intake, and valve trane. it will scream if done right. I would lean toward Scat instead of Eagle out of those two.
 
scat is the best in my opinion, I got my 408 kit from AD performance, balanced perfectly, fit and finish was perfect and I only needed to clearance the oil pump slightly to clear the crank. Pistons in the kit were probe, high quality bearings and rings too.
 
I really don't think there is a best, or to say a clear cut winner between the two. The amount of scat and eagle out there is enormous. I would put more research and consideration on who builds it. Obviously both can me made to last a long time.

I Buy US. products when availible but the price difference is HUGE we did a 408 $$$ with a Crower highend rotating asembly hows that song go Hurts ssoooo good,well If ther is a best this is it Cup quality Cup price also :Track: purpose built for tons of track time no worries here If we sell the FFR were putting it in the 66 stang with the Tko6oo should be a hooot..Have fun Bill
 
I am running SCAT internals in my 408w, SCAT is the way to go. low compression though 9.5:1 (waiting to add the blower), I also have a custom grind cam. It seems to do the trick! car weighs right around 2750lbs without me in it!
