There are a few cracks in the soft dash pad of a 2004 Mustang GT I'm looking at.

Does anyone know if just the soft dash pad (top, padded part of the dash) can be removed/replaced on a 2004 Mustang GT or would the entire dash need to be replaced?

I've looked on the diagram on Ford's parts site but their diagram makes it look like you cannot just remove and replace the top, padded surface but would need to replace the entire dash panel (part # <04320, price = $6,600)

Thanks.

It's located on the soft dash pad directly above the air vents at the top of the center console. The damaged area is highlighted by the red box in the picture below. It's right about where 1994-1997 Mustangs used to have the pod with the clock.

Thanks for the confirmation of the one part dash.

Looks like it may be time to try to find a good used dash at a decent price that'll fit this car at an automotive recycler. Wonder if there are any good parts yards in Wisconsin.

Or maybe a dash cover like the Nu Image GP152, although I'm not sure how that'd look painted to match the rest of interior.

you have to remove the entire dash to replace the cover. we did that on my buddies 97 GT. it was a HUGE PITA!!!! we swapped the whole interior in that car and it took about 2 months working on it an hour a night after work

Do you mean that the cover itself can be replaced after you remove the dash or the entire dash itself (including the cover) must be replaced? It sounds like the cover itself is a permanent part of the entire dash and can't be separated from the rest of the dash.

I see a few places where I can buy a used dash for about $275. I don't know if any 1999-2004 Mustang dash would fit or if there are differences between years or between GT / non-GT.

I'd need to make sure I get one that matches the rest of the dark charcoal interior. Oh, and deal with the PITA task of the swap itself. It'd be way too easy to just be able to swap out only the cover part without having to pull/replace the entire dash.

Well some of that wiring can be disconnected from the dash and left in the car. I pulled all the wiring out of the car when I pulled the dash so it looks much worse then it is. I don't have a pic of the back of the dash but there is alot of wires attached to it so it is just easier to swap a complete dash.
