Throw away or keep questions

Any reason to keep the original carpet? It might clean up ok, would take a steam cleaner probably. But it is pretty easy to tear already and I don't know if it would really be worth the effort. I most likely will be changing colors anyway, but it does have the matting under it and is all there. I just don't want to toss it and then find out that I need something from it. But it would be nice to get it out of the way. I don't have much room for storage.

Same thing with the firewall insulation, only this is tore into pieces already. It didn't come off as nicely as the carpet. :( But I don't know if these are even reproduced, and I did notice that it has some bits of metal on it, like reinforcements in a place or two. Most of the pieces are fairly large, and I could piece it back together if I have to.

Open to any other soft type things that I should be looking at keeping as well. Gaskets, etc.

Thanks,
Russ

I am surprised that no one has chimed in here. Found two Mustang 2's at the Pick N Pull and saw a great air cleaner and a 2 barrel manifold from a v-8 sitting there. Cheap really - are these things worth anything? Myself I like the cobra aftermarket valve covers and air cleaners (and I will be running a 4 barrel myself) but are pieces like this going to be worth having in your garage when all of a sudden everyone need it? Million dollar question I guess. I have seen lots of interior pieces - not sure what is worth what.

I did get the 5 rally wheels though, not sure if I will run them but for $50.00 you can't go wrong.

There are some odd things that are worth saving just because they are commonly damaged, but nobody cares about original carpet or insulation. I say toss it. Even the resto guys buy new. A lot of interior pieces are worth keeping, I have two complete black interiors in my crawlspace just in case. Engine parts aren't worth much. Almost everyone upgrades. The Mustang II market is small to begin with, the percentage that are doing actual restorations as opposed to restomod is even smaller.

$0.02 ~ $0.10 a pound, depending on the scrap market.

They won't kick down the door for aftermarket valve covers, people won't even notice them unless the covers are truly exceptional.

If their covers installed by the factory in the 60's , that would be a different matter.

Were they white side panels form a hatch?

I think their paying $10 a scrap rim around here. So no, you couldn't go wrong.

Interior

One good black interior, the other that crazy green. Mine is blue from the Cobra 2 so i don't need any of it.

Not going back - found a parts car and if I strip I will have enough odds and ends to finish mine off. I'll keep the original stuff in a box and see what happens one day. Temping to collect Mustang 2 used parts but you are right - except for the oddball stuff everyone needs probably not much of a market.

The rally wheels were a good score, the other parts one would probobly pay more for the shipping than the parts, air cleaner is big to ship, and the intake manifold is heavy to ship, plus a lot of folks want a nice chrome air cleaner without the emission vacuum hose niples sticking out of it
