I have a 460 in the Capri. Well it's out right now, car is in pieces. They fit fine, K-member helps. If you want to be in the 600-650 HP range, it's easy to do with a small block or big block. And while it will be a little more costly to build the 460 to that power level, it won't cost as much as building a decent windsor and then adding the SC or turbo your going to need to make the power you want.
Weight will be a big factor, and it just depends on what you want to do with the car. Show only, coolness factor of a big-block wins every time. A lot of street use, small block definitely for weight distribution and handling. Race car, you're better off spending all that money on chassis/suspension then do a milder motor, big or small.
When I finally put the Capri back together, it will likely be with a 514-540 inch big-block, EFI, C4, with a 9" rear. Right now it's a junk yard 460/C6/8.8 rear.
