What's max SAFE hp of stock 2010 GT w/ boost?

**WHAT I MEANT BY THAT IS SAFE FOR THE STOCK INTERNALS OF THE 4.6 3V**My car is coming back next week from Vortech w/ a V3 H.O. kit, it is 11lbs of boost, and Vortech says it is SUPER CONSERVATIVE 91 OCTANE TUNE. I live in N.Y. and run only 93 or better (sumtimes U find 94) and I'm curious since they emphasized SUPER CONSERVATIVE FOR 91 OCTANE FUEL, if I can up the boost 2 lbs and run only 93 or better and get a dyno tune and still be safe... Right now all my car has is Tuned BBK equal length headers, off road catless x-pipe, SPEC Stage 2+ Clutch and flywheel, and a track pack rear 3.73 diff and clutches as far as performance goes..however they are tuning my car at 11lbs of boost w/ the cats on for 91 octane, and I'm told has put down several low 400's at the wheels..no official number yet as they are still tuning it.... DOES IT SOUND SAFE TO UP IT 2 LBS AND RUN 93+ AND GET ANOTHER TUNE ONCE IT GETS BACK? I see ATI prochrgers people on 100% factory stock cars runnin 13lbs and up for years...

Well stock, I have seen people push past the 500 mark, but you will need GT500 pumps and a really good tune to do so.

I run a Saleen SS and I sit right at 435 now. I do not have GT500 pumps, but I do have a KB BaP. Even so, I would not push it past 450RWHP because I was advise that's the magic number for our cars. (I have a 08).

So its really up to you I guess. I have read people doing more, but you need the mods to support it. Nastystang for example I think is pushing 500+ @ the wheels with his whipple TVS. So give him a shout on how his car is holding up.

Kool thanks, I'm not sure exactly what pumps I have, as Vortech took my car for research and developement and I saved OVER 50%..so I couldnt pass that deal up, and I got a free tune and install!! I'm gonna do a lil reserach on what the kit thats on my car comes with as far as fuel delivery... Actually, I'm gonna go check now.... another reply to follow..haha

This is what they installed in my car... 2008 Ford 4.6L 3V Mustang Bullitt, V-Power Supercharging Systems | Vortech Superchargers

they told me it's 11lbs peak as im getting it back..but the actual charger is safe well past 20 lbs and 750 horsepower.. I ordered the next smaller pulley (2lbs more boost) and i'm thinkin w/ a retune and using always 93+ better fuel it seems safe...i only track it once or twice a month, but it will be under full boost a few times a day..hahah What do U think??

dont mean to burst your bubble but running 13 lbs of boost on stock internals is asking for serious trouble jmo i would not even run 10lbs on my car.... granted that yes a major part of a safe engine is in the tune but at 13lbs that tune better be perfect..

One guy on another forum blew his bottom end with a twin screw running 9 psi. He said it was cold outside and he was laying into it hard. He feels that the pcm was advancing the timing too much. Then again FRPP sells a 500 hp twin screw with 11 psi. Do you feel lucky?

Ya, I hear ya, I have heard of people blowing up all different stuff, and I have also heard people running crazy amounts of boost and nitrous with a very well done tune, and lasting years! The basic kit is 11lbs, and buts down low 400’s to the wheels on a VERY conservative 91 octane tune..Vortech themselves said with just a tune to expect 450rwhp w/ 93…. Then I look at all the guys that have been running ATI blowers at 13-15 psi for YEARS on 100% otherwise stock cars, right down to stock exhaust, some of them even running only 91 octane!! That’s why I am asking to get everyone’s input on this.. I have seen sooo many companies both roots and century type blower advertising 500+ rwhp on 100% stock engines w/ these hi boost (13-15lbs) kits and tune?!! It seems crazy to me, but who knows?? Anyone have a V3 intercooled setup or similar w/ any input on this?

I was told by my tuner to limit the HP on the stock block to no more than 525 rwhp and thats pushing it. I think that is where Nasty is at...

I'm at 436ish rwhp and its more than safe, but I'm only pushing 8 psi, 9 psi on a cold cold day.
You can go 450-475 without worries...that is if your car is tuned correctly...

Its like they say...its all in the tune...

GREAT!! Yeah, I hear 500rwhp w/ a good tune is pretty safe, and should make the car as fast as I'll need...for this year...haha, once U get the bug, its over, or should I say..it's NEVER over!! Ok..cool, well I get it back in 2 weeks, i'm gonna bring it home and start looking for a good, reputable tuner w/ boosted 3v experience..I know the car and kit isn't the issue, its the tune.. Any suggestions who/where to bring it that doesnt charge 2 million dollars, and isn't more then a few hours away.. Thanks for the help, I'm hoping for a nice 500 rwhp pump gas car for this season..until next year!!! HAHA

I would highly recommend VMP, but he is not in your part of the woods. He does do email tuning where you send him data logs and he fine tunes...

But I would think you would rather have a real-time dyno tune...

Try giving them a call and see what they suggest...

:nice:

The weather is awfully nice right now... lol
Also, there is the 13th annual Fantasy of Flight Mustang show on the 17th if you plan on coming down for that time frame; VMP will be there... :D

yeah, we are flying into lax and getting a shuttle to Oxnard to Vortech to pickup the car and driving back...it should be fun, and considering the car is 120+rwhp more than it was when they took it, that should make it a little more fun too..haha.. I've made the Arizona-NY trip a few times in the past, but never in my Stang, and now we starting in Cali..few more hours back..it should b intersting!!
