What's max SAFE hp of stock 2010 GT w/ boost?

Oh I will...Im hoping to get some cool pics from Vortech, being I left my car with them for 2 months..but let me tell you..I GOT THE DEAL OF A LIFETIME letting them use my car for research and to make the 2010 kit... lets just say I paid around HALF PRICE and got a free professional install from the actual company themselves for helping them out...and they are so great to deal with on the fone, I cant wait to get there and meet them and check out the facility and stuff..and then the ride home should be nice, being I havent had my car for over 2 months I cant wait to drive it again...and with 400+rwhp compared to the 282 that it left with..that should make for an even bigger smile on my face for the road trip!! PICS AND VIDS TO COME IN 2 WEEKS OR SO!!

I had is shipped to them, it cost me about $700 to get it there.... I was looking for a superchrger setup and when I went onto the Vortech site they were looking for sum1 with a manual transmission 2010 gt to give them the car for 2 months or so..and there was 2 feet of snow outside, so i said, hell, why not, and the snowy slushy nasty weather went on almost the whole time my car was there, so I coulndt complain..it was perfect timing, i get it back just in time for spring/summer!! I figured..the $5000+ setup, $1000+ install and the peace of mind knowing the manufacturer is the one doing the install I figure if it ends up costing me under $4,000 including EVERYTHING from getting it there to all costs of getting it home, and I get to visit the facility and have a nice warm mini vacation it was perfect timing at an affordable price!

yeah, they changed my wheels when it got to them (i shipped it out w/ horrible tirerack winter wheels/tires, haha) i wasnt trusting the shipping company / ies with my brand new GODSPEED black chrome deep dish wheels..if I got the car back w/ scratches or chips on those wheels i woulda been upset...but yeah..I'm sure they will use my car sumwhere for promo of the now available V3 HO kit...ill b watchin the site..haha

Here's my 2 cents. Vortech makes great products and they're nice to work with. I've had a V2 S-trim on my '07 GT for 2 years. I have the non-cooled standard blower, but it makes 11.5 psi at my 6400 rpm shift points. With the intercooler, more boost would be possible while still being safe.

Tuning is the key to keeping any blower car safe, and our S197's are no exception. I had a local dyno guru tune my car. Vortech's supplied tune was VERY conservative (warranty and emissions friendly), so my tuner found a lot of extra power, while still keeping A/F in check (11.6:1 @ WOT). Without an intercooler, we had to keep timing at just 14 degrees (cooler would allow for 19-21 degrees).

I drive mine every single day (sun, rain, snow, whatever) and I've made dozens and dozens of passes at our two local dragstrips. I'm in the boost a lot, and run high rpm's a lot (4.10 gears and a 4800 rpm stall converter!).

I picked up 125 rwhp over stock with the standard V2, so I suspect your V3 HO will net you at least 160 rwhp more than stock. My car still has 100% stock engine, stock suspension, factory exhaust manifolds/mufflers, and is a heavy automatic - yet it runs 12.1's @ 113 + in the 1/4 mile. Your V3 HO should easily put you in the mid 11's @ 120 in the 1/4 mile assuming good traction/launch.

Thanks, its great to hear from someone else w/ a vortech. So, from the conservative stock tune that vortech supplies vs. just a local good dyno tune, what kind of horsepower number increase did you see? My car now, with the stock vortech supplied tune and just tuned shorty BBK’s and an offroad x-pipe is putting consistant low 400’s to the wheels, (when I get my car I can post the exact dyno sheet) With this known you figure a good quality dyno tune would easily put me into the mid 4’s rwhp? And, I’m happy to hear that you are revving your car out all the time and after 2+ years have had no problems, my car will see track a few times a month, but just street driving alone it’s gonna see plenty of very hard driving, that’s why I bought it!! Thanks for the info!! Cant wait to get it back…less than 2 weeks away!!

My tuner found 60 extra rwhp above and beyond the Vortech supplied tune, and still kept it very safe. The Vortech tune was very rich with little timing. Our local tuning guru has been featured in some national magazines and is quite well known in the Seattle area as "the" guy for late model Ford engine tuning. He has some wicked turbo and blower cars of his own. He builds safe tunes, and I literally know dozens of people who've used his tuning with excellent results. No scary, ragged edge tunes blowing up motors. Just safe, powerful tunes. Most good tuners can find safe, extra power above the blower manufacturers' tunes. I think you'll easily see around 450 rwhp with a custom dyno tune.

Vortech seems to be safer than a twin screw due to the fact that it doesn't produce as much low end torque. Also I believe that Roush doesn't put these high amount of boost twin screws on their cars from their factory is because they don't feel that they will be safe on a motor with cast rods and crank. Just my opinion and I expect a lot of you feel differently than I.

I think you're correct. My V2 S-trim is only making 6 psi boost when I launch at the dragstrip (4800 rpm stall converter), so it doesn't pound the driveline too hard. By the 6400 rpm shiftpoint, it's cranking out 11.5 psi boost. A twin screw just plain pounds on the drivetrain at launch, then plateaus up to redline.

Thanks for all your input guys, I can wait to get it back, put the catless x back on and find a good tuner to really dial it in, and yeah, I'm figurin about 450rwhp and still b 100% drivable if I decide to go to any shows or events, it important to me to have a streetcar...till I get it at least half paid off at least..haha I'll keep everyone posted when I get it next week!! Can't wait!! It was fun nearly stock, but that extra H.P. was def. needed for me!!
