Night Shifter 00GT build progress thread...take 2

My bad, his last question was do i really need a tune for just cams.

If he already has a blower tune i still dont see where tuning in the cams should take that long. The blower tune im running was emailed to me after the blower install, i already had a mods/cams tune and he just adjusted the parameters for the blower setup and made one small change on the dyno run with a max 2 runs.

If Pat is going to tune it for you for $350 , then you can rest assured it will be tuned right , just sell your Xcal 3 to pay for the tune , unless you change something major you will not need to change the tune and I am sure whatever it is , it will not be anything you will be able to change with the Xcal3 anyway ......

yeah pat is the guy tuning it..and yeah, i think the only thing ill ever be able to change with the xcal myself is tire/rim size and gear ratio..thats the only reason im on the fence for keeping it...unless i learn how to tune cars reall quick which i doubt is going to happen lol

oh and im ditching the blower so yeah basically its gonna be tuned for just bolt ons and cams..i need to change my sig lol

I went through the damn IAC problem a while back so i know your pain man.. glad to hear you got it worked out

as for the move, i moved back in january...daytona is where i am from and with all the problems with my car i was having and other things i decided moving back to fl was the best thing to do.. and it was cause now as you can see, when i need to get something done i can go for it with no problems...

What stage cams are they? I isntalled mine so if you have any ??? hit me up. :D

stage II's..so i made a newb mistake and didnt realize the 99-00 cam gears are pressed on the the stock cams so now i have to get new cam gears...any suggestions???

i can possibly get a set off bbk or comp gears from work but thats only if theyre in stock..if not ill overnight them from hitech which i really dont want to have to pay overnight shipping fee

im going to need retainer bolts too correct?

mike can you pm me what you used since you have a 00 too?

The cams i bought were used so they had the cam gears on them already. I beleive if you find someone who has done the PI swap or local junkyard they should be easy to come by. Let me see what i can scrounge up here in the rainy NW :nice:

i painted the engine block black too...im going with a black and blue type theme
 
me either..im dying to just get back in the car....i havnt drove it since october....oh and my step dad runs a junk yard and has a few 2v's laying around so maybe ill get lucky with the cam gears..theres and alum. 2v sitting out there from an expedition, maybe that has bolt on cam gears i can steal?
 
looks like im gonna get the engine buttoned up tonight and hopefully put back in the car..i bought some chrome BBK valve covers but decided i didnt like the chrome part so im putting the stockers back on the car... not sure if im going to try and strip the chrome off the bbk's and paint them black or sell them...if i paint them thatll give me an extra project i guess lol
 
almost there! i was planning on getting it done over the weekend but then i got sick... but now im back at it and since i can actually take my time at doing this now i should be able to finish it up sometime this week.. im going to be painting the whole rear end also and making it look like new again since i just put the rebuild kit in and new axles.. and i know, the k could use some cleaning but once the k from mm comes off back order it will be replaced so im leaving it dirty...

heres the vides, hope you all like them..i am in love with the way the car sounds now..i noticed a huge difference in driving with the subframes on too...id definatly recommend putting them on if you don have them..im having slight low end issues with it...it likes to stumble a little bit at low rpms, but im gonna switch to the ngk tr6's and see how that does..also it has the old gas in it...been in there since october just sittin so im sure thats not helping...car was dirty in the first vids..fought the evil gnats and washed it afterwards...enjoy
