kenne bell dyno

I am going back for my tune on the 28th i will post the new numbers but only if they are good lol even if it does not make a lot more power the sound of a screaming kenne bell is so worth it

This proves KB cant make a proper blower on the 5.0. Sure they make great power on the Terminators and GT500 but when it comes to the 5.0 and 5.8l they completely fail. I'm shocked that Im seeing numbers for a 2.2L intercooled 8.5 psi setup. I would assume these numbers would be produced by a non intercooled 1.5L setup running 6.5 psi. Regardless, best of wishes with your future tuning and you were sure lucky to keep the heads on the block with that one!

Well maybe im wording it wrong if he goes TO rich he will loose HP better....?...You cant tell me if he runs to rich Meaning in the 10's He will have more HP? Yes i hope the tuner gets it set right at least if he doesnt pick up a hell of alot more HP the car will be safe to run....and not hurt the motor... And please dont think i dont know anything what gives you the right to judge what i know and dont know?...Are you God?....I was driving and building my 1st car already when you were born..I think i know a little more then you think I do....I still say if they go to rich it wont make alot more HP..and im sticking to my guns on that one.....

while i dont completely disagree (from what ive seen in KB builds), ill wait until he gets it tuned before i chalk this one up to KBs fault. seems like theres a few things that need a serious adjustment before any decent numbers can be put down

Its a really bad tune on a stock 5.0 shortblock. These cars made less than 200RWHP in stock form. The Termis and GT500 benefit from a much better performing/breathing shortblock. If you go to the Kenne Bell website they have a clip from an article where a H/C/I 5.0 made 508HP at 9.2psi.

Kenne Bell Website said:
How well does the new Kenne Bell BLOWZILLA/FLOWZILLA work? Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords Editor Richard Holdener recently tested the Kenne Bell BLOWZILLA/FLOWZILLA kit on his own engine with the Westech engine dyno. The little 302 had #185 AFR heads, Comp Cams #274 cam, 75mm throttle body, 77mm mass air, Kenne Bell Switch Chip and 42 lb injectors. The combination made an amazing 508HP at 9.2 psi and 484 at 7.5 psi with a pavement ripping flat torque curve (453-483 ft lbs). 483 ft lbs @ 4000 rpm. That's 500" engine torque numbers. The boost never varied or dropped off from 2500 up - and there was another 9 psi left in the supercharger.

I guess what I'm trying to say is you can't really blame the blower. It is what it is. A blower setup is only going to perform as well as the combo that its a part of.

Before I tell you why it'll pick up power, why don't you tell me why it'll lose hp?
lean runs strong

The difference is, more power is lost when the mixture is excessively lean, when compared to excessively rich. .
I disagree

EVERY one here is missing my point...Running TO rich in the 10's you will loose HP .
I agree with you, take two identical cars, one set too lean, other too rich, the lean car will be way faster, but it'll probably blow up, haha

This proves KB cant make a proper blower on the 5.0.
look at that dyno graph again, thing makes over 300ft torque throughout the entire powerband, for a street car I'll chose torque over hp all day

high end hp #s are low from lack of fuel

Yeah, my tuner put my a/f at about 12 as you can see here. This was a really bad pull though, with still a pretty bad tune. This is at 7.9 lbs of boost.

Think about it, fellas. We need fuel to make the fire. Fire is what we get usable energy from. Therefore, take away too much fuel and you take away your ability to make power, on top of possibly causing engine damage.

Lean conditions do not make more power. You might *hear* a tuner say "we leaned out his A/F and he gained X hp at XXXX rpm." When the tuner is saying he "leaned out" the A/F, he means he moved A/F from maybe 10.5:1 to 12.5:1. 12.5:1, again, still technically being a rich mixture.

Are you God?

No, better.

No, he's the devil.

:D

I can't even believe the dyno operator continued to make a full pull with the A/F the way it is..I really hope you are not going to have him tune the car.I wouldn't even be driving the car the way it is.It's deff. gonna pick up power with the A/F straightened out.
