There are many systems available. Most are systems that piggyback on the factory EMS and others are stand-a-lone. Each will have it's pro's and con's and in that sense there is no easy answer to your question. Check this link on the Corral forum

Engine Management Systems - Corral Forums

To better understand the complexity of your question you will have to do some research related to each of the many systems.

maybe I sould have been a little more specific also besides the tuning I meant installation alsolike how did the factory guages work and stuff I think i read somewheres in a previous post that I cannot find now that someone used the factory ecm still connected for gauges like the speedo to still work is that true? fox was a little easier but I am not so sure exactly

I have a 351w stroked with a ysi blower and low impedance injectors from a fox with dfi but its a gen 6 and none of the tuners around here wana touch it.so i figured id upgrade to either a gen 7 or a fast xfi setup. it made 850 hp before on race gas but I would like to drop down to at least 93 with a meth kit. since I have most of the stuff as a complete setup I didnt really think it made much sense to swap to the 94 specific stuff if I only really need a dfi setup. I do have the pms but id either need an injector driver or new injectors plus a new distributor at the very least

if I am wrong in my thinking please help sway my thoughts! I liked the pms but never got the drivability I wanted with my stroked 331 with strim and well now that engine is spread out over some road somewhere I thought sticking with the dfi would be better but if i am wrong well I am wrong I am still in the planning process and I just wana get this rite for the summer im tired of chasing stuff i just wana drive it finally!:D

there are a couple things out there like the big stuff 3 or the AEM or the FAST system. personally i like my PMS and if all you need is the injector driver and ditzy it would be cheaper than going another tuner route.

I did think about that but with the injectors I have I think I will peg my mass air meter and still need that also at that point I am halfway there to better efi system. I am afraid to buy everything and then find out that I have to step up in the end anyways. I am kinda in the middle rite nowI acn go either way. if i did go with dfi tho does our ecm control the factory speedo or is it independent?

ok I did some research and think I will just get a injector driver box from acceleronics and get a dyno tune with a chip the pms is nice but i think a chip will help and plus I can delete some stuff to that way egr and what not

you are rite grady I wasnt really thinking I did some research and found an injector driver so I can keep my low impedance injectors which saves some money I found reasons i am gona go with a chip I have the pms and my car always seemed finicky so I am gona give up on it i think plus id like to delete emissions and stuff I was trying to cheap out a bit but either way it ends up costing the same
