or keep the car i dont think is ugly and is paid for and continue to drive it? yeah sounds better to me

I believe he was kidding... maybe not a great idea to insult cars in their section of the forums...

anyway, do you think the weather conditions that night were in your car's favor more? that might contribute to a slight difference...track temp, humidity, ect...

i'm aware he was kidding, if i wanted jokes ****ting on my thread i woulda went to the squeaky wheel

but i thought about that, but i went back and checked the weather from that night and the weather from the past few weeks and its been near the same, maybe within a 2% difference, also my damn 60' wont come down past 2.00, when the car was bone stock on street tires it did that and i pulled an 8.6 with just the doug thorly shorties, now i have a CAI tune and exhaust on R compound tires in a 275 and nada cant break 8.6's except for that one night

It's real difficult to do on street tires. The best 60' I was able to cut on my stock pirelli's back in the day was something like a 1.98. It's all a matter of finding the sweet spot with tire pressure, rpm's and slipping the clutch just right.

You don't want to do smokey burnouts on street tires, just enough to get the water off the tires, or if you can drive around the water box that is best. You need to test different air pressures in the tires. I'd start around 26 and work your way down to no lower than 20. The best thing to do is get stickier tires, but for most people it's not an option. Maybe try to look into getting some used stock rims and throw some drag radials on them.

i wasnt on street tires per say, i was on Hoosier DOT R6's from my 87(200 tread wear 40 side wall VERY sticky), basically a slick with rain treads cut into it, oh and its an auto BTW

what do you have for year suspension ? A soft spring that lets the car squat will load the rear tires, as wheel front springs that allow for front end lift. Sticky tires can counteract a stock rear suspension. If you had better 60' times with street tires it sounds like you want to look at getting better weight transfer to plant those rears.

no ever since i had the mods done ive been running on these tires

how are you leaving off the line?

are you trying to launch it a little? are you just waiting until the lights go and nailing the gas?

launching is the biggest thing to get your ets down.

do you have any problems with wheel hop? throw some lower control arms in it. do you still have your front sway bar hooked up?

it just takes a little bit of practice to find that sweet spot for how you leave the line.

surprisingly no wheels hop, ive been toying with the air pressure of the launch, ive tried everything, the launch with th 1.995 60' i left at 2100rpms, but after that i tried leaving around 3-3200 but the tires either start to spin or the car bogs, front swaybar is still hooked up and i have no intentions of removing it, i still enjoy the canyons with the car and i want to keep it truly dual purpose, and tips for launching the car?

It sounds like you just need to find the right combination of traction... A dead hook will result on bogging (My brothers 06 GT is the same) and too much tire spin will result on poorer 60's. As far as how to get there, it is different for every situation. It might even be different with the same car/driver/tires but on different days.

Your best bet is to practice launching. Start with one consistent, like tire pressure. Then adjust your launch technique and burnout and see what helps.

This is assuming the cars mph isn't suffering, and the power is the same if not more.
