Motor mounts, Tremec 3550 and Driveshaft Angle

I have a '65 coupe that will have a 347 stroker rated at 425hp. I will be running a Tremec TKO transmission.

I have read many threads where people had to modify the transmission tunnel to get the tranny to fit. Many other people claim that no modification was needed to get theirs to fit.

I don't want to modify the transmission tunnel but would like to get as close as possible to the proper driveshaft angle. I recall reading a thread where someone mentioned that the TCP motor mounts actually lower the engine a few inches which allows for a more accurate driveshaft angle.

Is there any truth that the TCP motor mounts do lower the engine a bit? Do you guys recommend a set of aftermarket motor mounts such as these over the stock ones?

I am not a big gear head so I appreciate all of your insight and help!

The Ron Morris will drop the engine 1/2". You can fabricate you own shock tower brackets to lower it further, but you will get into oil pan clearance issues with the steering linkage and front frame crossmember

I just found the Ron Morris mounts. Those look pretty nice! Do you think that these will help with getting the proper driveshaft angle? Also, do you recommend a set of motor mounts like these over the stock ones when my motor will be pushing over 400 hp and 400 ft/lbs of torque?

Thanks!

We are planning a 351/408 with a TKO600 swap I would like to get ours as low as possible.allthough a tunnel mod isnt out for us. nice work on those mounts also Jbuening

Thanks wildbill. Not sure about the rack and pinion as I have stock power steering. I don't think you can go wrong with the lowering mounts compared to the tunnel mods, unless you have a lowered car with headers that scrape the ground. You have the taller windsor so it shouldn't be a problem ;)
