Got home last night, car was running fine. parked for about 1/2 hour, when to go to the store and it cranks but does not fire. I can hear the fuel pump & smell gas. Got to be ignition but I can't think of what would go like that. Seems to crank really fast.

Any ideas?

Of course ignition parts are the only thing I don't have a pile of here. I may have a TFI I can swap in but that's it. Looks like I ride the bike today.

Could this be a timing belt? Would explain the fast cranking. Well I think its fast, normally I just bump the key & its running. I looked & the belt is still there but could be broken & didn't get tossed.

i had similar problems what was wrong with mine was the inertia switch im pretty sure mine still cranked when that switch went off but im not sure. but anyways the switch is at the back inside the hatch if thats what you have. its on the left almost directly behind the tail light. there is a little circle cap you pop off then inside it you should see a little red button push it in then try to start your car again. Mine randomly went off after i parked it once it took a little research for me to find out what it was. if your fuel pump doesnt come on it is for sure the switch.
