window tint

Cali is the worst place for tickets. However if you are pulled over for a traffic violation and it isn't by CHP then go to court to fight it. 90 % of the time the only officers that show up for the court date are CHP not local police. Last time I went for a red light violation I got off because the cop didn't show up, so did about 25 other people.

What is the brand of your tint? A good tint doesn't bubble even for years. Regarding the % of tint, You can check the current tint law in your state available at http://www.TintBuyer.com. They also gives information about tints like its types, quotations and help locate the best window tinters near your area. :nice:

I had to remove the tint in my car the 3rd day I owned it :( because the dealership taped the window sticker to the inside, and when they removed it, it took a strip of tint with it.

That, and the back glass was "foggy", and the front strip edge was right in my line of vision and really irritating.

I looked for tips, and the best advice I found was to use a fabric steamer to heat the tint as you peel it -- most of the adhesive will come off with the film. Peel slow is the key. I would "preheat" the corner and get it started with a razor blade, then go real slow. On the back, I even succeeded in not killing the defroster lines.

Regular Goo Gone will eat any leftover glue.

I agree though, 50% doesn't do a whole lot. I just wear sunglasses :)

just get an eye doctor to write you a note saying you need tint because otherwise the sun hurts your eyes. Why pay for a ticket when there are perfectly legal ways to avoid them?

this is what i did, and make sure it says you are Photophobic.. i was running 5% on a black '97 and never had any problems. plan on doing it with the newer '04 i have.!

I got 5% all the way around and tecas the law is 20 up front I'm pretty sure. Been pulled over for no damn front license plate and he saw the tint... just roll down the windows if you get pulled over BUT backing up at night with the 5% is a pita

While 5% does look pretty good on some cars, it has to be a pain in the ass driving around at night. That's why I'm probably going to go with 30% all around. Also, I'd rather not have different percentages on different windows.
