shaved cowl vents

I'm going to shave or fill the cowl vents on my 66 coupe,what is the down side to this mod ? I know on the drivers side it is an air vent,passengers side I'm not sure, I will be running AC and heater,any thoughts ?

I have seen it done, so I know its been done, but I would not do it. The fresh air vents and heater wont work very well.

I did it and the heater works fine.I get fresh air from the windows so that was not a issue

Wow, very interesting. Those things have been problematic on fords for 40 years!

I want to do it, Vintage Air kit uses recirculated air anyways. Looks much better and then you won't have that unsightly nastyness (at least I do) under the grates..

just apply mass amounts of bondo. It will look really good

I have done it on three cars. I like the look without the cowl vents. Classic AC has a cover that blocks off the fresh air from the cowl.

Just cut out metal patches and weld or use panel bond on top of the vents. You don't cut anything out.
