Wheel Offset?

I am thinking of going to a wider wheel (18x10) on the rear of my 08 GT so I can run wider tires. Can anyone tell me what the correct offset is? Also, anyone have any idea how wide of a tire I can run on an 18x10?

Thanks in advance....

I'm not sure as far as the width of the tire itself but what I would do is look at websites that sell Mustang wheel/tire packages (like cruzinconcepts, latemodel restoration, cj pony parts) and see what they list their offset on their S197 wheels and that'll help you decide. Most combos are usually 18x10 in the rear anyway (in staggered format) that should help.

Our 18x10 SVE wheels for 2005-2011 are +43mm offset. Here is a pic of them on a GT500 with a 275/40/18 tire.

275/40/18 & 285/40/18 are the most popular rear tire sizes that I know of.

I just picked up a set of brand new OEM GT500 wheels and tires.

The wheels are 18x9.5 with a 45 offset. Stock rear tire on that wheel is a 285/40/18 and it fits perfectly. That photo above looks like the wheel is a bit close to the edge of the fender, prolly due to the 43 offset.

Roush runs an 18x10 on their cars, with 275s all around. If I can get a 285 on a 9.5" wheel, you could prolly go with a 305 on a 10" wheel.

Nice look! how are those on big brake packages? I'm still trying to figure out which way to jump when I'll buy a new set and so far only the GT500s seem to be the best bet for value and fitment.

I have found some 18x10 Bullitts with +45 offset for the rear of my 08 GT.

Thinking about going with either 295/45/18 or 285/40/18.

For those of you in the know, which size tire would look the best? I am looking for the fattest tire I can fit without them sticking out of the fenders (at least not very far).

Thanks in advance....

Not sure on any of the aftermarket stuff yet, but we know for sure that they'll clear the GT500 Brembos.

Thanks for the reply. So far that's pretty encouraging. I'd be interested to know if they clear the Stoptech/Saleen/Roush 14in big brake kit because if they do I'm definitely going to consider a set.

So far the GT500s or any Saleen and Roush wheels seem to be the safest bet.

Our Roush rep is bringing by a car with the front brake upgrade on Thursday morning so we can check fitment. I'll report back with our findings!

Excellent! I just hope the car came with the big brake option or we'll have to wait until someone attempts.

That said Stoptech does offer the template on their site for caliper clearance you could try to see if they clear. I tried going around dealerships and wheel shops in the past with this cardboard cutout I made checking for fitment. I must have looked like a nut to the other customers.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you guys. The memory card that had the pictures from the test fit was misplaced & just now found.

The 18x9" SVE wheels will also clear the Roush caliper!
