So my 91 coupe 5.0 kicked a rod and killed the block and heads.
I cant afford a new long block and was given a new 289 from a 65 stang,it has 302 heads and a mild non roller cam. Will i be able to put all my efi, distributer, and pullys on it and run it in 91.
thanks :flag:

You can make it work.

There's no hole in the block for the dipstick, you'll have to use your oil pickup and oil pan, timing cover, all the brackets and probably a 5.0L timing chain set.

The 5.0L waterpump is a different length than a 289 unit, and you'll need a 1971+ 4-bolt 28oz balancer to bolt up your crank pulley.

You'll also need a distributor or a dist gear from a TFI dist without a roller cam. Firing order is also different than a 5.0L, unless they used a 351W cam. That, of all things, isn't really a problem though...it won't quite have the 5.0 sound, but it works just fine.
